That's fucked up but I'm not really surprised.. NYC clubs are known for benig BEYOND packed so I'm sure after what happened in RI, NYFD had to show the mayor and the authorities that they were on top of things.. Everyone knows very well how crowded these nights get, so I guess they figured they'd rather shut it down and send you all home rather than have even the slightest chance of anything bad happening.. I can't say that it's Roxy's fault, this could've happened at any club (and I'm surprised it hasn't yet).. But I'm sure PVD will be back soon and knowing his attutide about things like this happening, he'll make it up to you all..

I guess I should really be happy that I stayed home sick as a dawg, coughing and sneezing my brains out..

Okay, so some people were left out in the cold with tix in hand. This is Paul Van Dyk people! Sell out crowds in every major club in the world...Roxy is not an exception. Oh, and I believe most of you were complaining about EXIT and how over crowded it was. Roxy and NYC have placed a maximum amount for the safety of you. Get there earlier.

For those who did get the experience, you may agree with me or not, but I challenge any DJ/producer to put on the display that PVD did this morning. I have never seen someone move a room at the drop of a high hat. He knows exactly what to play and when to play it. He slowed it down at times with some experimental breaks and some minimal tech, then before you knew it, you were pumping your fists in the air PVD style screaming for more.

Here is my thoughts on a tracklist in NO particular order

Viframa - Cristalle(Mikey Puff Katana - Build up)
Paul van Dyk - Nothing but you(New PVD remix)
John Askew - New Dimension
Lustral - Broken(Pitch & Sulpher mix)
Viframa - Cristalle(Katana vs. Precision mix)
Hydra - Affinity
Max Walder - Crown
Midway - Inca
Solarstone - Soalr Coaster (Midway mix)
Ayu - M(Above & Beyond typhoon dub)
Circ - Destroy she said(Denotis mix)
Rapid Eye - Circa Forever(Iberia Mainroom mix)
David Forbes - Questions must be asked(PVD mix)
Ralphie B - Massive(PVD mix)
Funktion - Seduction
Tillman Urmacher - On the run(Ocean to shore mix)
Paul van dyk - Step right on 2003
Paul van dyk - Words 2003
Paul van dyk - Face to face(Piano mix)
Vincent & Quentin - Joyride(G&M project mix)
Masterclass - Requiem
Tiesto - Obsession(Filterheadz mix)
Paul van dyk feat. Alanis Morissette - The Couch
Sonorous - Protonic
Prime Mover- The Weapon
Jan Johnston - Skydive/freefall - Very unexepected but great record!
Paul Van Dyk - Unknown vocal with Jan Jonston
Paul Van dyk - #7 from Okyo Monstermix -- Amazing!
P.O.S - Remember (Summer sun)
Chromedioxide - Man of god
Polaris - Inspect her gadget(Ripple driver mix) Amazing!!
Paul Van Dyk - Nothing but you!!!
Solar 7 - Hard Spectrum(Snowhite mix)
3 Fingers - Frozen February(Flakes)
Aalto - Liquid Sleep - Amazing!!!!
Klea - Tic Toc(PVD mix)
Midway - Inca (Encore)
Marco V - Atlanta 022002
Paul Van Dyk - FOr an angel(Nu NRg mix)
Nu Nrg - Butterfly
Nu Nrg - Illusion
Three Drives - Carerra 2(NU NRg mix)
Circ - Destroy she said
The Thrillseekers - Synasthesia(PVD Dark Dub)
Luc Puoblon - Quantum Leap
Don't know the artist - Trespasser(Robbie Rivera mix)
Solid Sleep - Club Attack(PVD mix)
Second sun (or part of second sun) - Some experimental record, minimal tech-trance with only 7 sounds in the track...
4 strings & Carlo Resoort - Unknown
Unknown Source - Nadjanema
Blackeight - The Silence
Solar Factor - Urban Shakedown
York - The Awakening(Hiver & Hammer mix)
Alternate - Alternate(Mr. Raw mix)
The Matrix - Protect the Innocent
I - Ching - The Forgotten Dream

---I am sure I missed a bunch, but this should give you an idea of how amazing this set really was. I have not seen a track list like this from anyone except for PVD. He came with the right records and I still don't know what would have made him select some of the records that he did, but that is the reason I am still awake and writing this with my jaw still on the floor.

I still like to have it rocking. Keep in mind what this music is made for, first of all. Its not made to be easy listening on the radio. Its not made to be easy listening in television. Its actually kick ass in the club. This is what music is. This is the purpose of this art form...to listen to it and let the frequencies actually blow you away. --Paul Van Dyk

You might want to think your thoughts thru before spouting stupidity like that.

Can you name ANY other situation (concert/ club event/ theatre play, etc...) that oversells tickets, where you take a risk not getting into EVEN if u have a ticket, if you don't arrive early? Why don't you call Ticketmaster and ask them if they sell tickets to such places with these clauses attached? What would be the point of selling advance tickets if it didn't guarantee you entry? Those who don't buy advance tix are the ones who risk not getting in, not the other way around.

Every club has a maximum capacity- based on that #, the club knows how many people will be allowed in. If you buy a ticket, that guarantees you entry. Ticket holders should be allowed in 1st, end of story. If the club reserved some tickets to be sold at a higher price at the door, they should know how many CAN be sold, based on presales. If they were planning to oversell it from the get-go, the problem is right there. If fire marshalls were just being over-protective, that's out of their hands. But the bottom line is this- clubs need to stick to their fire codes, and let the people in with tickets FIRST.

I heard that Made Events sold 500 more tickets than max capacity. I guess it's good for people who come in later, after some people have left. I guess it doesn't work so well if everyone enters at the same time, or before anyone has left. The Roxy probably could have packed them in, but they probably felt some heat from the NYPD and FDNY, who probably cared much more than before due to recent events.
It is a bit messed up that ticket holders didn't get priority.

I also heard that for refunds, send the ticket or confirmation (if you were to pick up at will call) back, I would guess to Ticketweb. But don't rush to do that yet- I hope that someone can confirm about it soon.

Y'all should've waited til the NYPD went away, and a good number of people had left the club. Something to try next time...
My friend did ask about the possibility of coming in later, but of course they wouldn't say "Yes" in the presence of the cops. I was lucky to think about checking back after going to get something to eat.

Wow that is seriously fucked up. I'm so glad I didn't venture down last night. I can't imagine how heart broken some of you must have been, I know it would have destroyed me with such hopes of an assured amazing night. NY needs to get there shit together somehow, this is pathetic. Surely there was more pressure cuz of the fire situation than before but gimme a fuckin break.

Tat to all your points... well said. People buy tickets for a reason not to be turned away.

now this is pretty stupid. did you not understand the fact that SOOO many people went home with tickets in their hands? yet people who didnt have tickets got it. so people who already spent their $80 went home with tickets... waste of money. sorry, thats my opinion.

Wow, I feel so sorry for the people that didn't get in. Makes me glad that I didn't make the journey up there, cause if this would have happened to me, heads would roll.
