First of, I am not misleading ANYONE, so don't defame me. I categorized DJs/producers based on the majority of clubgoers' opinion as far as genre of music. Ferry Corsten and Christopher Lawrence, they both play epic and uplifting epic trance, have you listened to CL's new CD Exposure IV? AVM and Micro, yeah they produce diff music, but that wasn't the question, they both play hard and uplifting epic trance majority of time. I did not say PPK is hard trance, I said DJ Pimenov, only I explained who he is 'cause not a lot people know that name, and if you visit their site www.ppk.ru, you'll find out that his newest mix is pure hard trance.
PPK itself are Cyber Trance, and I wouldn't call 'em commercial nor mainstream. In case you didn't know there is suck a sub genre called upbeat progressive trance also known as Progressive Trance Belgium/Germany and your sarcasm isn't appreciated,(down beat) Deep Progressive Trance aka Progressive Trance UK, and YES CHRISTOPHER LAWRENCE plays both epic trance and PROGRESSIVE Trance, thus I put his name twice. AND NO Deep Progressive Trance IS DIFFERENT FROM PROGRESSIVE HOUSE AND HOUSE MUSIC, JUST LISTEN TO THE WAY THE BASS LINE BEATS SOUND, bassline still sounds like house track but it builds on or progresses, whereas in Progressive Trance, bassline is regular trance sound but a bit slower and it also progresses and builds on and on and on. Satoshi, Omid 16B, Deep Dish DO PLAY AND ALSO PRODUCE progressive trance and they also do same for prog house, READ THE QUESTION which only asks about TRANCE. PS as far as Omid 16B goes, don't forget that he has quite a few allias names, you may own records or CDs by Satoshi, Deep Dish, or Omid, but like I said the all play/produce both genres since they sound very similar

These are my opinions and you have right to your own, but don't you dare say that I am trying to mislead someone, that's called DEFAMATION, so don't do it again... Thanks....

To keep it easy you just need to know the big groups

Hardtrance: Cosmic Gate, Chromedioxide, DJ Scot Project, Hennes & Cold,...
Progressive Trance: M.I.K.E, L-Vee,...
Uplifting Trance: Armin Van Buuren, Ferry Corsten,...
Tech-Trance: Marco V, Lava, Austral, Nick Base
Goa/Psy Trance: Astral Projections, Yahel, MSG, Man With No Name,...
Acid (Trance): Merlyn, Derb, A.S.Y.S., (some of) Kai Tracid, Check out Tracid Traxx releases...
Hardstyle/Harddance/Hardhouse(depends on the producer, sometimes Hardstyle/dance/house doesn't even sound remotely like trance and sometimes it does): Marc La Cruz, Yoji Biomehanika, Warmduscher, Luna, Starsplash, DJ Wag, Deepack, Gaida,Fergy, Pavo,...
Cheese/Club/Pop Trance: PPK, DJ Jean, Bartezz,...
If someone thinks I put the wrong producer in the wrong group. Feel free to correct me, but I find it difficult lately to put a producer/DJ in one specific group as they try their hands on everything lately

Did i said you were misleading to have you come defending yourself?
For anyone who read what you posted, i am sure more than half will find your post catered towards your own generalisation of sub-genres.

Christopher Lawrence is not hard nor uplifting enough, to me the very least, if not one else agrees.

If PPK decides to come up with some quality productions, i wouldn't put them out of the back of my head.

Am glad you agree that prog house is different from prog trance, you may be very knowledgable in this sub-genre that YOU play but do note that some others are here to understand more about trance, hence the post, technical aspects aside, House producers may have a couple of tunes progressive and trancy in nature but that does not mean they are trance.

Satoshi, Omid 16B, Deep Dish are known as House producers and plays prog house and House. They are not trance to me, perhaps they are to you, in your own words once again. The question is about trance and you brought up these outstanding house guys, whatever for? do you have to tell the world that just to prove that you they produce what you like and you play them?

btw wtf is cyber trance? i know cybersex thou.

This is definitely a much more accurate post with regards to the topic, not what you think it is but IT is.

Short and simple answers like this helps others more than one's own definition.

The reason I said Hard and uplifting 'cause I specifically wanted to distinguish Cyber Trance from Epic trance. If you don't know Frequency 8, then maybe names might ring a bell: Mars & Mystre, check out www.Frequency8.com or www.f-8.com. This music will take you for a ride in space at around 140-147 bpms with rich melodies and spacey synths, just listen to PPK Resurection or their new smash hit, RELOAD...

Hard Uplifting Epic and Hard Uplifting Cyber Trance are my two main genres that I spin....

Deep Progressive Trance (yum yum yum, love this genre that I play)--Chris Cowie, Omid 16B, Satoshi Tomiie, DJ Sasha, John Digweed, Dave Ralph, Electrictease, Noel Sanger, Nova, Deep Dish, Chris Fortier, etc...
check out www.planetxusa.com go to DJ shoppe, mark trance, and leave all other options on defaults and just click search, this website gets really specific on genre of trance and just pick any record to play preview so that you get a better feel of the main bass line and around what bpms each genre is mostly played at... Good Luck...

Reload is a bull of crap.

And can you make up your mind what do you spin?
One post it is your so call Hard Uplifting Epic and Hard Uplifting Cyber Trance, the other you love your deep up-beat prog trance that you play.

i disagree.... acid trance isnt just hard music, tracid traxxx explores all sides of the genre, ok you got your early stuff from kai like tiefenrausch, peyote song and stuff like that.. ok theyre probably sum of the lightest trance you could hear, but by no means would i say its cheesy, just melodic acid trance.

still on old tracid traxx.. you got your ASYS - acid headcracker (auf die nuß mix) or (303 inferno mix), 10 kleine bassdrums, acid save your soul, saurebad, solar quest - acid air raid ..... i dont detect any cheese in any other these (cool, that rhymes lol)

on more recent tracid traxxx.. we got... kenji & MDT - kreissage, angel of death - angel of death, hardcore will never die, DJ Merlyn - krass/stacheldraht, oliver klitzing - i like that beath, trance & acid, ASYS - from past to phuture .... nope, no cheese here either.

i know your probably saying its cheese, cos your more into your underground styles more aint ya?

admnittedly, quite a few of kai's productions are very light, and even tho i dont really like light music, i still enjoy his softer productions..... like on his new album

yes, by cheesy i meant it sounds more commercial to me. and by more commercial i mean less effort put into producing. when we talking the quality of an acid track, we talking programming skills of its producers. tb 303 is easy to program for simple abruptive patterns like in "acid headcracker" or any warmduscher track, but it takes a lot of time to create a pattern similar to that of "acperience 1" by hardfloor or "tremors" by dolomite. most (but not all) of the projects i mentioned are known for very complex and innovative acid lines. note, their trax are not necessarily hard (in fact hardfloor have very few trax that can be considered hard), rather they are very well produced.

and about "acid air raid". i reckon i already said in another thread why it was a remarkable exception. it was NOT produced for tracid traxx. it's on choci's chewns where it trully belongs and where there is plenty of other productions of george saunders aka solar quest, akin to the legendary acidairraid.

but having said all that, i state that no acid trance track comes close to acid techno sound. that's where real acid madness takes control revealing all the destructive power of the silver box. so i suggest u quit listening to your (tr)acid trance and switch to acid techno instead, the true acid sound
