I'm a DJ at a club where I play alot of mainstream stuff. You start to get into it and the crowd loves it. Of course I'm in the Dirty South where booty-shake rocks the club like nothing else. Booty-shake is the best dance music in the world. It's the only music that makes EVERYONE dance. Sorry trancers. If you're from Europe or somewhere outside the southeastern U.S. you probably don't know much about booty-shake. I had a couple of cousins from London come to Atlanta a couple of months ago and they couldn't believe this music that they heard in the clubs. They really liked it though. It's fast pace and full of energy and it's all about shakin your ass and partyin'. Try downloading these songs...
Kizzy Rock - Twurkulator remix
Choppa - Choppa Style
Kilo - Nasty Dancer (an old classic)
Ying Yang Twins - By Myself and Ay yi yi
I also play some electronic around 1:30-2:30 am. Stuff like Kosheen vs. Ferry Corsten - Catch the Punk, whatever bangin' breaks I have, some trance, some hard club shit. Anyway, I'm a total trance/breaks freak. But my first love is rap. Knowwhatimsayin?

To be fair these are the only 2 songs I heard that I find listenable... the rest... ah well... perhaps I'll find a couple of upbeat country songs to tap my feet too.

Its even funnier when people on this board decide that every thing that sees radio play is a trend, when a lot of them have real talent. This isn't directed so much at you, as to everyone on the board, im sick of everyones condensending views on non trance music.

I was hoping someone was gonna say that. I was guilty of just that in some posts above. Just cause I don't like most of the pop oriented music out there it doesn't give me the right to bash it. Yes there are very talented artists out there. Just sometimes they produce music that doesn't appeal to me.

My main bone of contention with pop music (rap and rock included) is the lack of creativity and originality. The need to follow the crowd and worship the stars of MTV. But in the end we are no different worshiping DJs and the such.

Having an open mind is the key. Like what you like and tell everyone else who bashes you for it to FUCK OFF!

That Dixie Chicks remake of Landslide (orginally done by Fleetwood Mac) is probably one of my most favorite songs of all time.
It just so reminds me of my childhood and great sunny Sunday mornings with French toast and breakfast with the family while is was playing in the background...(actually the whole album is great)

i also love Landslide. Stevie Nicks has to be one of the best female song writer of the century tori amos has done nice cover of that song in some of her concerts, and personally i think its alot better sung by her than the dixie chicks :-/ not too fond of what they have done to the song, bleh

Beautiful Child & Rhiannon are among my fav by Fleetwood Mac

on another note, i have to admit, i know like 99% of the songs that are mentioned on that list and most of them i have on cds

but whatever, iz all good i dont mind listening to pop stuff. the more open minded u are about music, the less u limit yourself from the musical wealth! plus, i thik christina aguilera's new album is good.. hehe and well aaliyah, she was a very talented girl. no shame in listening to her music...

but jdat, that song Your Body Is Wonderland, i find that so painfully annoying i cringe everytime that gets played on the radio lol..

some of the ppl posted in this thread are idiots. Just because you hear something on MTV or on the radio doesnt mean its shit. If you dont like the music, then dont bash it. More ppl bash trance than they do rap and i can understand why ppl bash trance.
