I've ran Windows update already and got everything updated. The 4MB video is only beacuse I need ram for the system. I'm not to worried about game performance since I don't really play games much anymore. I'm more pissed at why this box wont play a simple MP3 file. Hmmmm...

I run XP on my 300 MHz Celeron with 192 MB RAM, quite slow sometimes when opening the start menu or right-clicking, otherwise it runs good.

can you borrow a friends soundcard to try that? and could your harddisk be dyeing, so it cant acess the data fast enough? imm having loads of random ideas but i dont know how relavent they could be!

If you want to tweak it (XP in general - cos it was giving you performance problems go to www.tweaktown.com and read the guides on tweaking it, and download a program called RAM Idle PRO, which can free up a memory that really doesnt have to be used. Or try WinRAMbooster, apparently its great for freeing up memory, but I havent tried it yet.

Oh, and install SP1, fixes problems.

1. test ram: go here http://www.simmtester.com/PAGE/products/doc/docinfo.asp

2. reformat drive, reinstall xp, only install winamp, and test a song: If that works then slowly add programs until u find a problem.

3. If that doesnt work its a hardware problem. Maybe overclocking damaged something. For like $400 you can get new system (this will save u a lot of time and heartache).
