Yeah I also use Musicmatch to burn my MP3s off, it seems ok, but you notice the loss of quality when you turn up the volume.

I don't actually have a CD-R, although I may give the impression that I have cos I know stuff . However, there's nowt wrong with Winamp for playing mp3's with high fidelity, so I doubt there's much wrong with its capability for playing to a wav file. I would expect you get the same sound quality playing the output wav as you would from the original mp3, so try that.

There's honestly nothing wrong wrong with musicmatch mp3 en/decoding but it just depends on the sort of music you're playing with. Dance music seems to work pretty well with musicmatch but i did notice Cool Edit Pros mp3 en/decoding was very clear but a bit lacking in the lower frequencies (bass) so it's good for some music but not for all. sorry if that doesn't really give you a clear cut answer.
