I agree with this statement.

Dont like the original though, and dont like the remix.

PVD turned an after-hours downtempo track into something u can actually dance to.

and its funny how you're posting this 5 months after we started talking about this track.

You guys are biased. He didnt do that much to the track. Just replace the breaks with a standard beat and wooh, heres his rework! Not much to it guys, even I can do that

PVD could have been so much more creative with the re-work.

Example of how it should be done:-

I produce Ambient, down beat and soft trance tunes (really soft). My friend and co-producer Jon does more Neo & Farina style analogue synth business. He completely re-worked my tune 'lost opportunity' into a dancefloor monster. He retained all the emotion of the original but re-thought the arrangement, added new riffs and generally fucked with it.

If he can do a good job then a pro producer like PVD can as well. Thats why I was dissapointed with PVD's pathetic effort on 'Wavy gravy'.

definately.. the original is just as danceable as the pvd rework... it's too fast to be a lounge track and who the hell doesn't like dancing to a breakbeat?

Paul shat on a good tune, end of story, he doesn't do it very often so I have no hard feelings.

Just listened to the PvD mix of wavy gravy
and it hurts me.

The song in itself isn't too bad. it has the original wavy gravy synths, you can never go wrong with those.
the beat is just same old plain and boring.

to draw on what i posted earlier:
I'm a big fan of 4/4 on the floor, but break beat is just so much better to dance to.
and the break beat in the original wavy gravy just fits so much better with the synths than the "on the floor" beat.

Pvd took a very beautiful and well put together song and simplified it and turned it into something that is more "plain and boring"

If i had heard the PvD mix without ever hearing the original though, I would love it. Like i said earlier, the synths in wavy gravy are amazing.

PvD also took one of the most beautiful tracks ever and made a fucking cheese cake out of it. Worst rework ever! Should never see the light of day! EVER!
