um, has nothing to do with that. Just look at the requirements for Armin/Ferry/Rank1:

Flight contribution always two (2) tickets and flying longer than four hours only business class (British Airways). Hotel accommodation first class 4/5* (one (1) double room). Flights/Hotel with written approval from DLP

business class is like 1,500 roundtrip, so 2 tix would be $3,000. That goes for every dj. They often require the purchase of 2 tix in order to take their manager/friend/gf/wife.

one time I was talking to Giovanni, and he said he was trying to convince Pete to go in with some other promoters on making a big event like that at the MCI center and book all the residents from Glow for that night and stuff
sounded pretty cool, but pretty doubtful

u mean clone? 'cause afaik, there was never an ibiza like setting in the US before.

Area 2 type festivals will do well in US...you neeed variety and thats they only way to sell tickets.

the festivals have to showcase to an american crowd so they cant stricty go EDM artists, they might have to add some rock/aleternative/pop/hip hop/artists to it as they are doing back in the UK. Then i am sure it will work.

Also EDM needs to be promoted to the masses of the US, but some are not for it because they hate it to go "main stream", but if you get some ads on TV and radio then yeh it will work. Its all about doing good PR/Marketing

Yeah I figured a lot has to do with the fear of promoting to any mainstream audience...actually when I was near Detroit, that's exactly what happened to DEMF. It got too big and last year it sucked...There were more curious tourist-like people there than true electronica fans....granted DEMF is a techno festival, but still -

Then again, if they don't promote, people who are genuninely interested will never hear about it - I've never heard about some of those festivals u mentioned, other than Area 2....
