That's why i made it a long post StereoPrincess, I didn't want you to read it. I'm quite happy if i reach my target audience of 1 out of 10.
I think your position on this topic has been clearly established from the onset. So why you bother to preach to me is beyond my comprehension. Clearly you are neither objective nor add anything relevant to the topic because so far as i see you are just repeating yourself. Talking about my post size and comapring it to signatures doesn't really make you appear intelligent either, I hope you realize this at some point. Furthermore the fact that you recycle the same things that Halo says and write nonsense like "I am forced to scroll thorough a bunch of bullshit you decide to write." makes me wonder not only about your motives but your mental state as well. Nobody is forcing you to do anything, what you do is determined by one person. You. So give it a rest before you get burned...
Maybe it's your attempt at baiting me into starting a flame war with you, I don't know, but quite frankly from what i have seen, I don't really care. Suffice to say, this is the last time i am going to acknowledge your existence in a post. You clearly don't warrant the time or the effort. What amazes me is that you probably believe your 2 cents actuallly matter...
Come back and talk to me when you have a better idea of what you want to say because I think you're pretty clueless at the moment.
Note of interest to the impartial reader:
This is from a thread where Halo & Company went up against Dr Z.

Dr. Z, you know what I hate?
I hate reading your responses because they are always just full of quotes that you respond to every single sentence that a person makes. Do you really think that its necessary to address every point. Its worst then having sigs, to have to scroll through these quote posts. |
Notice any similarites ?
(Odd isn't it, how this princess manages to scroll through everything and still manages to say so very little. Perhaps someone should take some time and explain to her the intricate workings of a public forum where people express their thoughts and others 'address' them with relevant ones of their own. From what I see, she hasn't really grasped this concept. )
Damn...this reads like a flame doesn't it ? *laughs softly*...oh well, she did bring it upon herself.

Why do you think the original is trance? What makes it 'trance'?
I personally think it's progressive. The song builds and progresses in a totally different manner than a trance song does; This song doesn't fit into any sort of formula or style, that's why it's progressive. It has elements of trance; but it's a lot more than just that.
As for what kind of a DJ Sasha is; He's a progressive DJ. He's continouosly moving forward, changing styles a bit, trying something new. Just look at how GU009 and GU013 differ from eachother (even though they still have that Sasha sound to it). GU009 is mostly trance; whereas GU013 is all prog with 1 or 2 exceptions. And right now, fuck, I don't even know what he's spinning now.
Anyways, moral of the story; a melody doesn't automatically make a song "trance". You gotta look at the bigger picture; listen to how the song was created and how it all comes together. If you're not sure what style it is then, then it's probably progressive.
fuck, i hope that made sense...this cold is really killing me

Hmm,tricky one.It sure as hell ain't progressive breaks. It has none of breakbeat's features,at least not those features I associate with breaks. It is not pure trance either(since it does not follow trance's norms purely),but it has more in common with trance than breaks(melodic synths, arpeggios and a crescendo after that noisy part). For me,Xpander will always represent progressive trance, with the melodies from trance(like in the build-up) and effects from progressive (in the beginning and between the two synth sections).

Peter, we weren't even talking about Sasha as a dj, but rather the track itself. Just because it isn't "boom boom boom breakdown boom" that doesn't disqualify it as trance. |
but what makes it trance? i'd be more willing to accept it as prog trance than just trance, like Sand Leapers defination of it.

prog = prog trance/house.
Epic? Ya, I guess; Perception is epic, and I guess I'll give Xpander to you as well. But saying that it's just prog trance isn't right. Raff n' Freddy - Deep Progress or Natious - Amber aren't progressive trance in my book. Their basslines, for one, are pretty much the main focus of the songs even though they got that deep, epic feeling to them.
The compiliation as a whole is very epic though, I do agree with you on that. But not all of it is prog trance or epic trance. There's house (epic house, even) in there as well. The reason why I just called it prog is because thats what it mainly is. But whatever; prog house, prog trance, epic trance, epic prog trancey house...call it what you want; it's one of, if not the, best compiliation released. "EOD" lol
God, all this prog this, prog that BS is annoying. Who the hell coined the term progressive anyways?
