Okay, for those of you who saw Dave Seaman:

What track was playing when the lasers came on for the first time???

I remember the Planet Funk track, but I don't think it was that one. Or maybe it was -- my recollection's all a bit messed up. If you love your fellow TAs, PLEASE help me ID this track. I've gotta have it.

OK. Let met explain. 20,000 odd people go to two tribes, but the main arenas only hold 7,000 or so (it's only a tennis court remember). So that means that not everybody can fit into the arenas at once. When Warp Brothers were playing, the vodaphone (Godskitchen) arena was completely full and they wouldn't allow anybody in, so we had to queue up for a bit until people left and they could let any more in. After Warp Brothers finished and Pee Wee Ferris started playing, it cleared up a fair bit, so more people could come in. When Armin started playing, they had a similiar situation. Fortunately, myself, inacoma, philby, stipsy, mr_stamper, DJ Ballistic and a few others were inside before they locked the doors. Unfortunately, some of the other TAs were locked outside, which meant they missed half of Armin's set I feel really sorry for you guys.

THAT SONG WAS AN ABSOLUTE FARRRRKING TUNE!!! I remember going nuts to it! It was first time me heard and OMFG! I remember just yelling the last line "BUT IM STUCK IN THE . . UK!"

I'm glad I know what that track is now!!

I'm gald all the Melb TAs had a great time, and I'm sorry to hear about the Closure thing. I think that happened at Sydney as I was heading back into Sander me and Ves had to run in as they were closing the doors, Lucky.

Can we see some pics for the Melb TT? TAs Front and Centre I presume?

The only other track I can remember now is Futureshock - On My Mind, but there were a few others that I recognised. Problem is, my trainspotting skills are shit so it may take me a couple of days to put one and one together. :-/

Got into 2tribes about 7-7.30... Explored the arenas... I LOVED those 2 BIG strobes on the stage in GK arena... Not enough ppl so we went to get pass outs... they were delayed 1.5hours :/ ... Came back to GK at about 9.30 - 10... saw a whole lot of mates... decided to stay with them... Not a good move... Four scuffles/brawls in 2 hours... Anyway... tried to ignore it as much as I could... Continued to build myself up for Armin...

I don't know about all that Hard Trance/NRG music throughout the night, with the only trance being Armin... It didn't fit well together... Didn't really set the mood... And all my friends started complaining that he was too "soft"... They didn't really appreciate his style... I just shook my head and walked off... I felt like saying: "What would you know?"

BUT BUT BUT!!!!!!
OMG!!! Armin went off!!!! WOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWW!!!! WHAT A SET!!!
Right from the word go! I heard the start of Tears from the Moon (Hybrid Mix) and I started going off... All my friends were just staring at me as I started singing at the top of my voice!!! A couple of tracks later... Just after Yahel - You Feel ... Nothing (Returning 93 Mix)... Which is definitely my absolute favorite from last year... The rest is a bit blurry coz I stopped concentrating on the tracklist... And started rocking... Especially when I recognized the tracks... I know there was :

Solarcoaster, For a Devil, Universal Nation, 3rd Earth, BORN SLIPPY , Mistral, and heaps of other tracks that I recognized but couldn't name... I think he played Sunburn about 2/3 into the set...

Hmmmmm... That door thing really pissed me off... I was worried about not being able to see Armin... I feel the urge to write a letter of complaint to Future Entertainment. Worst part was... A friend had come out with me... And she was really upset she couldn't get in... At least we got in before Armin started... I did a walk across the front row to see if there was any obvious TA's there... but didn't notice anything... so I went back to my group of friends... My night started gradually slowing down after Armin...

We all ended up at ZOS recovery... But I didn't see Steve Strangis b/c the venue started boring me...

all in all... SICK NIGHT, BRO!!!... despite my complaints...

philby's highs and lows......

ok
two tribes : highs and lows
there were a few highs and a few lows
there was one massive high, but also afterwards unfortunately there is a massive low which for me at this point in time has just about ruined it all for me........
but more on that later..

now:
quote:
Phil <-----hahahhhaha

wtf u laughing at bitch???

high: getting excited to meet everyone in the city and have a few drinks before hand, then going in to go spastic to armin
low: being absolutely buggered from work and lack of sleep which required me to miss the meet up... thanks for the lift though paul

high: getting to the arena and finally meeting people
low: seeing someone get beat up on the ground in front of us, and paul getting a dodgy ticket.

high: catching nubreed and dave seaman in the GU room
low: only seeing 30 mins of each before we were informed of an hour long wait to get into the GK arena...

high: just wandering around enjoying the atmosphere and colour of sooo many people in the place!
low: waiting at the door to get into rod laver arena, being held back by security guards. they weren't letting anyone in unless you had the vip pass, but for every one person knocked back, about 5 people left! just when the doors were literally about to be closed on us, we ran to another entrance which was letting people in, to see the doors shut right behind us! now that we were in the concourse, we still had to wait to get to the actual dance floor! there was a bit of a mob crush thing happening at the same time which was uncomfortable...

high: finally walking into vodafone arena for warp brothers, who were caning cafe del mar. the place was packed, and i mean packed! watching from above, the floor was full, the stairs down to the floor were full and so were a lot of the seats! whatever you want to say about the warp brothers music, they certainly filled the place and entertained their audience. seeing a certain female member of this board crash on the way to the dance floor upon hearing 'insomnia' was another high

low: putting up with the shit tunes lol
they played a couple of good ones and i generally didn't mind it but that wasn't what i was there for. pee wee ferris wasn't too bad either. but farrrk, as soon as warp brothers finished, the crowd left like rats abandoning a sinking ship!! paul still had troubles getting in with the tightarse security. this was the point when we saw stipsy who told us how the crowd hulked up and charged the door, breaking it and forcing their way in!! LOL!!!!

high:
armin!!! farrrrk that was amazing shit! so many good tunes!!! 3 hours of non-stop punching the air and jumping up around like a spastic!! it was great, especially with all the TAs around you!! with our forces combined, the tracklist is almost complete it was bloody awesome. it was so much fun going off to this guy, we were all loving it, the crowd was loving it, armin was loving it, everyone was feeling the plur!!! it was brilliant!!

low:
too many people! it was definitely a bit squashed!! also i hate it when people push their way through, you think they are moving on and then they just sit there in front of you! arghhhh.....

quote:
Yeah, Philby was holding up a t-shirt a few times. I'll wait for him to tell you about what else he got from the great man...

ok
now
umm
this is where things get interesting....
there was an ultimate high during the night, which was insanely exciting and a great clubbing moment.
jolz brought her 'avb is god' singlet from last year, which we all took turns proudly displaying to armin he acknowledged it a few times which was nice, and great to see. we were all having such a blast. i also brought jolz' tranceparance cd and my yet another day vinyl covers with me in the hope of getting an autograph. i was jumping up and down a lot during his set waving my vinyl cover around like an idiot, we all took turns displaying that too hehe in the hope of it getting played. he pointed and smiled at me too for holding it up which was mad getting towards the end of his set he hadn't played it and we were getting a bit worried, i brought it out again to try and 'refresh his memory' so to speak, and hybrid junkie tried waving it furiously at him hehe. then strange world is about to finish and we hear the unmistakable sound of the hiver & hammer remix of yet another day. we all erupted, finally he was playing it! me and jolz were screaming out the words lol. he came down from the decks and shook a few hands during the track and the crowd rushed to meet him, pushing forward the barriers at the same time! then he went back up to chat with the next dj, and we were holding up the cover again with a texta yelling out "sign it"!! he pointed to me and gestured to go over to the side away from everyone! omg! so i ean over there with hybrid junkie, and waited for him to come down. then he walked over to us, shook our hands and signed the cover for me, and the cd for jolene! i was buzzing with excitement!
"to phil: thanks for support! u rock! armin "
that was the incredible high of the night
after his set unfortunately everyone pissed off! we hung around for a while then paul dropped me and jolz off on chapel st for the recovery party and steve! who played a great set as usual. we walked around for a bit before catching the train into the city and parting ways.
then... it happened.
the low
i lost it
i lost my vinyl cover.

i fell asleep on the train. i opened my eyes and i was at my station. 'shit! i better get off before it leaves and i leave my mum waiting!' so i run off the train and head towards the tunnel. the train goes. along with my backpack that contained my jumper and autographed vinyl cover. SHIT! i ran back to the office, yelling my backpack! i left my backpack on the train! the guys inside got onto the last station to get them to check the train, i just had to wait and hope that no one took it and the train people could find it. they didnt. i went home in tears. i cried on my bed. i dont care how wussy that sounds but that is what i felt at the time. me and my dad drove to every other station on the line to see if anyone had handed it in, but noone had heard anything. i could not believe it. why did i leave it on the seat? why didnt i hold it? why didnt i have it between my legs? why didnt i take more time to get off the train? why didnt i think??? i am absolutely devastated right now. i was so happy and proud that i got it signed, and now its gone.

i can only hope an honest person has taken it and will drop it off at a manned station sometime soon so i can have my stuff back. otherwise, i am just gutted. absolutely gutted.
so there you have it. highs and lows, with an incredible peak and an even more incredible trough...
that was my two tribes.

edit:
im at work so ill post the tracklist later, the written list was also in the backpack....
but i saved it in my mobile too

dangz, ppl had to que to get into the arenas? for an hour too? last year was paradise, walking swifly too n fro from rod laver, to vodafone, to the indoor courts. i remember breezing through jeff mills, joof n tiesto where the floors weren't even "full full".

i wuda been pretty irked if i'd went and missed out an hour of armin. probably more so by the fact that perhaps a third wouldn't have known who the great man is.
