Jules' dates also say "6 - Tuesday - US Tour" and since he has Calgary labelled as a US tour also, I'm hoping the 6th will be up here in Edmonton. We always get the DJs on the tuesday anyway... at least that's what I'm wishing for.

Yea I hate the Calgary scene. Hip hop is ruining this town I tell ya, it's all you can find at clubs. Hell I wouldn't care if we had big name DJ's if there was a bloody club that played electronica most of the time. Unfortunately we have no such place to my knowledge. I can't imagine how hard it is to break into DJ'ing electronica around here (And I'd like to eventually =\)
Can't complain about PVD tho.

the Dj market is very oversaturated.
you can bet you will be playing for free for a while, if you even get that lucky. Im sure you know its not all skill, its alot of who you know, who knows you.
And if you think there is no electronica around the city, you arent looking the right places. tho trance is way down there on playlists, you can go somewhere pretty much every night of the week for house, DnB, breaks etc
if you have questions, dont be afraid to PM me
i'm just taking a little more time before really promoting myself
and as jason said, it's all about who you know and who knows you
i've made some pretty good contacts and am on a pretty good level with most of the promoters in the city
so once i decide to finally give it a go, i think i'll be alright
if only i were djing back when the city had a massive every other week
then it wouldn't be a problem
sad but true... my sound is really only fit for raves or afterhours

Well at least you stick to what you like, and not what the current fad is. I'd rather play my timeless uplifting stuff, then hiphop that gets old in a week.

do you guys think there is enough trance heads in calgary? Enough to make a big name DJ event sold out? If you do, all your job is to now convince a club management to bring a name in. Money is never an issue IF management knows it will be a sold out show. I think its up to you guys, the TAs, to try to make a difference Tranceaddicts will make their stand...heck, we made such an impression that dave dresden(from gabriel&dresden) is now a tranceaddict! Get a couple bodies together and see if you can discuss with your favorite club management on what you'd like to see done.
Good luck
ps. encourage local DJs into throwing electronica parties..sometimes it can be as much fun

plain and simple
there is no loyalty in calgary.
area 51 lost ~$15000 when Armin came last june. fifteen THOUSAND. if that means anything, it should serve as a harbinger.
We may have an in @ the palace.(ok we do have an in) and the show was to be June 1, but then Tiesto june 4 fucked that all up.
Its being reworked now.
as well Dom/Ferhenheit has some good UK Hard trance coming our way.
Its all about the window of oppourtunity. There is only so many clubbers in calgary, only so many will come out for any given event, and bla bla bla, all the parties with no real growth in fan base is only hurting us.
