well i hope the best for all the people dealing with trauma in this thread...

i think cell phones and driving are a nuisance, but not necessarily because of the phones. i actually think that most drivers arent aware enough with or without cell phones to drive at all. when you add the phone thats what causes accidents. i used a cell at work when i was delivering auto parts, and if you actually pay attention and slow down and be careful- it shouldnt matter. most drivers dont realize that they are piloting a heavy piece of machinery alongside others doing the same, and all those stupid people in one place make accidents very very likely.

i do agree that handfree devices are helpful- but who is to say that someone wont fuck up while dialing, etc? its not a solution until people actually learn to drive and drive responsibly|best wishes to all

Satan (eek!)

Woah, now that's a bad one

Glad your ok man!!!

But not to sound like a dick because you almost just died and all, but you can't really JUST blame the cell phone man - It's also the person using the cell phone has a big part in it too not staying alert and stuff. True, if it wasn't for the cell phone you wouldn't of gotten in the accident, but if your friend was paying attenshion (spelling?) like he was saposed to, then you wouldn't of gotten in the accident either. So I still think using cell phones are allright while driving, depending on the persons driving abilities of course and how capable they are staying alert while talking.

thank God ur alright dude - very glad everyone is ok. really brings you face to face with mortality and reality. plus ur my good friend so it really hits home for me as well.

when you called, i was just about to take a nap. and thinking how calm of a mindset i was in, and comparing it to what had happened to you, it put me in a very uneasy mindsed - i was very relaxed, but 600 miles away, you were almost killed. I couldn't feel your pain. And when i had heard what had happened, it stopped me in my tracks and i was really mortified. when i heard that you were ok, i was relieved, yet the thought of you almost dying really devastated me. i'm very lucky and glad to have you as a friend.

peacE bro

Glad to hear you are ok....
That kinda shit has almost happened to me so many times that I should be dead by now...skidded on ice, woke up before I almost drove off a bridge etc.

Your friend prolly turned the steering wheel sharply in one direction, and then sharply in the opposite direction in a short period of time (like within 1 sec apart). THAT'S THE WORST THING YOU CAN DO IN AN SUV, because of the higher center of gravity it rolls over. I've seen demonstrations of that maneuver (when they have those little training wheel things on) including a Durango and izuzu trooper and I think a land cruiser. They all flipped over when the driver did that. The really bad thing is that is something you might do to avoid an obstacle in the road etc.
