its funny when people refuted ur post..they only refuted ur statistics and said nothing about the aid to israel and how big it is.

because when you can't answer something up front, you divert the attention... its the best strategy and some of my fellow tranceaddicts are masters at this!

well i dont think u will find anything that refutes the huge aid the us gives to israel..it is a well known fact..kids at elementry school know that.

Since you never posted to support any of the arguments you just stated I'm not going to argue with you on those issues. If you wish to argue them either pm me or post in that thread that directly deals with that topic.

Ok here is my refutation(is that even a word) to your posts. Taken directly from the US site for FY 2002 congressional budget justification for foreign aid (http://www.usaid.gov/)

"Most of the tables illustrate the foreign assistance budget request for FY 2002, which is a part of the President's Budget. The tables also include budget levels for FY 1999 through FY 2001 for comparison. The levels for FYs 1999 through 2000 are based on the FY 1999, FY 2000 and FY 2001 appropriations acts. FY 2000 and FY 2001 levels are post-rescission levels."

These tables essentially outline the US budget appropriations to each country with respect to foreing aid (in thousands).


Egypt - - - 655,000
Israel - - - 720,000
Jordan - - - 150,000

Yes it's funny how everybody isolates Israel as being prominently supported by the US governement when nobody even MENTIONS Egypt at all!!! Sounds to me like there is a double standard going on . At any rate if you wish to critisize our support for Israel when our education system is in "ruin" and our welfare sysetem is abysmal you have to critisize our ENTIRE foreign aid program as a WHOLE. And if you're going to pick on Israel, at least include Egypt for god's sake.

here's something we can discuss

well Israel is getting 3B a year in total aid ( counting military too ) and Egypt gets about 1.5B if my memory is right.

But why is Egypt getting this aid? Mainly because they signed a peace agreement with Israel.

In other terms, its buying peace for Israel's southern front.

Also notice that Egypt has about 60 millions population, 10 times Israel

Excellent ... I love discussing . Ok well my statistics were from the usaid site, I'm not sure where yours are from but let's assume that yours are correct. Your stats claim that Israel is getting twice as much as Egypt and you're questioning why Israel is getting so much more and why egypt is getting so much at all. With regards to your first statement I think that Israel is getting so much because the US has been a long time ally and supporter of ISrael since its creation in 1948. I think that if you look at the relative ratio of aid Israel has been getting over the years you will find that it has been relatively constant over the years. This is by no means an indicator of Israeli infiltration of the US government but rather a reflection of a longstanding allied relationship.

With respects to the reason why Egypt is getting so much, I don't really know. I think it stems from cold war relations when egypt was flirting with both the west and the russians. It could be that the US desires an Arab ally in the middle east, it could be anything. Is peace such a bad thing to buy? At any rate I'm merely stating that if you want to bring up the topic of foreign aid, don't just limit the discussion to Israel.
