The problem with CBC is that it's not exactly uniform from city to city... the CBC channel here in Kingston is totally different from the CBC in Toronto, so it's hard to generalize.

hahahaha it's such a good video

I agree with you, it's ranges from city to city but the world news is often the same

Same with this. NOTHING will happen and then afterwards we are all gonna say "oh that was it". I can't watch ANYTHING amusing on TV right now cause all I hear is war crap.

So in closing. What am I gonna watch? My Rat Race DVD. I encourage allothers to do the same and ignore this media crap. Watch something that is funny. Invite your Friends over. Call it a "I will not get hyped up by the media" party. Order a Pizza, have some drinks. Maybe even invite me over and we havea good laugh remembering how much fun it was and keep the TV off. Humour yourselves and ignore THEM (media) for now. Or at least cut down on watchng the news at least.

we're not saying watch the war 'crap' 24/7 but there is something to be said about the watching the news and learning what is going on in the world, be it in Iraq. It takes common sense to understand what is news and what is fluff (CNN).

Kinda funny if you check out the CNN website, they have this page where you can actually look at the weapons both sides have for this war. Under weapons of mass destruction, the americans have gas masks, airproof suits, etc (all for defending biological weapons) while the Iraqi's have mustard gas, anthrax, etc.. (all for injuring the americans) Just funny how CNN even perpetrates the Iraq's as the bad guys

CNN - The War Network, gotta love the drama

CBC downplays it all. and you hear reports of civilians being killed, US choppers going down by Iraqi anti-aircraft.

so u flip over to CNN and all that CBC reported is said to be 'unconfirmed' by CNN

I really don't like American reporting at all; never have.

CBC all the way...

one thing that you do see with CNN that CBC lacks is all kinds of field correspondants with army/navy/air force divisions.

people movin in on the attack with the soldiers. pretty cool.

Maybe I'm imagining things, but does it not seem like CBC is leaning towards the US's side today? All I heard today is how everybody is surrendering and how great american soldiers are and how they are saving the poor poor poor Iraqis and how the US is winning. Sounded alot like CNN. Meh. (btw..let's not argue on who's right and who's wrong. There is a separate thread for that)

CBC is definitely the better choice for unbiased coverage. For a while though I heard some commotion (sp?) that Global's coverage of the middle east is blatently pro-israeli while CBC's coverage has been viewed as pro-palestinian. (probably because it is unbiased) Any truth to that?

All news is, is a battle of propaganda by either side. When you hear anything on CNN, it is intended to evoke emotion within you to support the war in Iraq. If anti-war protestors are depicted, it will only to the end of making them look barbaric and unpatriotic.

CNN allows the US govt to get away with a lot more than they should because it diverts attention away from the real issues. Did you know that the largest campaign in Afganistan was launches the day after US started striking Iraq!? How much are you hearing about that?

When watching the news, make sure you watch both CNN, CBC, and BBC, so you can cut through the bullshit and see what is actually happening, although it is unlikely you will find out much.

As for the tragedy, the US is doing what it always does... It's setting up a "free country, with democracy and a free market". Then what it has conveniently done (Bush has actually done) is give the rebuilding contracts to major US firms that supported Bush's election campaign. So when the little entrepreneurs in Iraq rejoice in their new business freedom, the huge American companies will be firmly in place, taking over yet another country....

Woh, I hope I don't get black listed!

DJ Katheda
