After evaluating the CD for myself the first time, I must this CD is a lot like most other Tiesto CD's, new style and all: using very good tunes, but timing them badly in his sets and his mixing, as usual, is not as good as it should be for a studio mix. Just listen to the Darren Tate tune into Midway - Inca for a good example of a BAD transition. Also i think the Use of Midway - inca was a bad choice in general at that point in the mix; he should have used Midway - Amazon which is more bangin, would have fit better. I also think using U Write into 'Destination" was rather awful, not to mention 'Nothing' into U Write.. both are great tunes (especially Nothing) BUT they were poorly timed in my opinion. Tiesto certainly does not create a Magikal journey in this one, the tracks don't tie in with each other at all.
having said all that negative stuff about it, i will also say he uses some of the most brilliant tunes put out this year, highlights being "beautiful Things', 'As the Rush Comes' and 'Mistral'. Overall, it's a nice 2 discer, but buy it for the tracks, not the mixing or placement. i will also say a couple of his transitions were very well done, (like 'beautiful things' into 'in your eyes') but these were sadly the exception. i expected better mixing. |
Um....man...you have your mixes backwards! Beautiful Things mixes INTO Destination, which mixes INTO U Write the Rules which then mixes INTO Nothing. Did you listen to this CD backwards?
Aside from your brain fart, I agree that the placements seem out of order just a little. The Acapulco track is fucking brilliant but only goes for 3 minutes and only gets truly going for about a minute and then he mixes Obssession right away! Less time on the first two shitfest tracks and more time on Acapulco would have been better! I also agree that Amazon would have been better than Inca.....oh, and where the fuck is 3rd Earth on Indoor.....and did he totally not get My Religion when mixing this CD? I also wonder why the new Armin stuff was passed up, as well as Tiesto's new track with Skin called Ten.
Still....Outdoor is good, but Indoor is great. I think ISOS3 was a little better though.
