Considering Josh Gabriel has done some huge stuff like Wave3 & his remix of Dido - Thank You, I think the majority of stuff he has done with Dave Dresden is a bit of a let down, and is in most cases, lacking in decent overall production finese.

For example; the remix of One For The Road, is just simply boring progressive at a trance tempo. The production is quite shallow in my opinion. I don't understand the hype generated by it on this board. Is it suddenly because the trance crew has felt left out by the increase in popularity in progressive music, and along comes G&D who decide to make prog house for trance tempos, then suddenly they're the new trance gods? It is a curious concept, but I guess its much the same as the hype over Filterheadz late last year.

Nevermind, its just my opinion...

/cue misguided flame war...

who is good in ur opinion?

there are plenty of G&D quality tunes that outweigh their bad tunes
lament, remix of southern sun,new order,WOW,layo and bushwacka remixes,...versus some of their lower remixes which in IMO are music,on the road..etc

they have a unique atmospheric melodic sound which i applaud them for.
I dont understand why u are complaining if these guys are one of the pioneers of the era of new dance....

overrated?...i think not

im glad someone brought this thread up, cos i agree 100%

their mixes of southern sun and mindcircus were diarbolical! It was just the original in both cases with a pathetic g&d beat added (the same one that appears in most of their other productions)

i dont find any energy in any of their stuff tbh, only wave 3, and remixes by other producers of some of their other stuff.

its amazing that i do own around 10-15 cds with their remixes on, but i seriously couldnt say i could listen to them over and over.

im quite shocked...u didnt like their remix of southern sun.
it completely blew away all the other remixes..the breakdown with about 3 min left in the tune was amazing and extremely euphoric dreamy.

I don;t care for the G and D remix of southern sun as well. they do have a few good remixes tho ( mindscircus, as the rush comes on and beuatiful things). But I didnt care for their essential mix.. not enough energy , I still prefer Tiesto , AVB and PVD. Tiesto and AVB june 13th baby OYA!.

Their EM turned a lot of heads on the board, and understandably so as many of the tunes kicked some serious ass.
I find G&D's sound to be pretty interesting, but I'm not obsessed with them Their style of producing is refreshing to me, and I support em 100%!!

Listen to Balligomingo - Purify (Gabriel & Dresden remix). It's fuckin' awesome. Simple and effective. Gotta nice breakbeat in the middle too.
