atypical breakbeat pattern 1 2 33 4, as opposed to standard 4/4 beat pattern 1 2 3 4 , with kicks(bass) on 1 and 3 and.. It's that simple (or complex). I hate breaks, they make the song sound broken

I've always been into them. I like the trancey/dreamy/chill style breaks the most. Hell, that's probably my favorite style overall.

I've only really just experimented with breaks in the last few days. I'm not really keen on the chilled stuff, I like the more upbeat breaks with a big chunky D&Besque bassline. I.e

Koma & Bones - Morpheus
Moby - Bodyrock (Hybrid Remix)
Rob Dougan - Clubbed To Death (Hybrid Remix)
Crystal Method - You Know It's Hard (Koma & Bones Gaping Axe Wound remix

anybody got anymore suggestions as to stuff similar to this?

All help appreciated

I'm really starting to like breaks too...
GU024 CD1 w/ Nick Warren starts out very chilled and goes into breaks...awseme cd...

also some other really good chilled breaks is Ulrich Schnauss's new cd "Far Away Trains Passing By" ...i dunno if it's really considered breaks but it's really good non the less

DJ Baby Anne has some amazing breaks sets as well...particularly her set from Global DJ Broadcast on Party 93.1 (12-16-2002)...also check out DJ Baby Anne - Trippin the Bass

It's probably been said, but DEFINITELY worth mentioning again, HYBRID definitely is THE killer. Great stuff.
First time I heard it , I wasnt sure what I was listening to but I didn't CARE what it was called. Its a great chilling, sometimes even eerie with the vocals. Eerie but beautiful all at once.

I'll be forever loyal to breaks, ESPECIALLY florida breaks. I couldn't care less how many people think it's cheesy..anything can be cheesy depending on your perspective. But anyway I'd definitely recommend anything by dj icey and the kaleidoscope records crew.
