Nope.. no such luck. Though, I can offer to pat your back. Or at least rub your shoulders - you seem a bit tense. Getting regular excercise? Eating right? Getting laid? Nope? Hm... never would have guessed.

Will they take me though? I just studied my ass off for urine test and failed it... and "hooked on phonics" did not work for me. It's a good thing my pet monkey is typing for me (in between finishing writing up his version of complete works of Shakespeare), otherwise my posting errors would have been far too many to make any sense.

See, all this engergy and thought and emotions go into this thread. Which brings me to my point. A week from now it would be impossible to find - you know, for preservational purposes.

See, a search feature would have come in handy!

Now you see the benefit of my post - which is all I really wanted.

UWM, et al - all joking aside - I'm just goofin' around. No offense meant by any of asenine remarks.

Search looks for content within posts or titles - your username is not part of the 'content' of your post - so no result would be found.

It all revolves around full-text searching and 'weighing' certain terms based on their frequency - searching for last posts by a user is cumbersome since while there are indicies for this sort of thing it still takes a long time on close to 5 million posts. This is the reason why the vast majority of large vB forums have search turned off for non-registered users - something I may be forced to do.

Some technical reading:

http://www.databasejournal.com/feat...cle.php/3512461

"That is, why is it bad if a search term is common? Well, think of the farmer who marked the location of the leprechaun's gold by tying a sock around a nearby bush. When he returned with his shovel to dig up the gold, the leprechaun had tied a sock around every bush in the field! Moral: if 'sock' appears everywhere, it is a useless marker."

Two questions:

1. Shall we start a thread "Chip in for search appliance for TA"
2. Did leperchaun use the sock inappropriately beforehand?

s.p.s. <-- to hell with it!

Thanks for the info Swamper!

btw, 5Mill posts??? whoa...

It's funny - you bitch about everything here - and when valid explanations are given your replies are full of nothing but angst and
derogatory comments.

It is posts like yours that do nothing to help TA - and - in fact - exacerbates the problem(s) with search by adding your meaningless content to the database. Perhaps if you had some constructive criticism or offered ideas on how to manipulate full-text searching to better serve TA in a more efficient manner I'd be willing to hear your case, but since you come off acting like an ass I can't be bothered to give you yet another chance.

You're suspended two weeks. Do something else with your time, you're wasting resources better served to serve forum pages to someone else.

Have a nice day.
