I was gonna write my review a bit later but I figured I'd be even lazier after...
Probably the BEST fucking party of the year so far!!! Finally got to preparty with a whole bunch of TAs. It was pretty good, but time went by way too quickly. Got to the Haus around 11:15-ish with no sign of my clowns anywhere After scoping the room for a while , I finally found them on the other end, but I was a little bit tipsy and too happy to see them to get mad. We pretty much stayed in the little area (close to orange room) for the whole night since the dancing space was perfect. We were up to no good as usual, owning that section with our dirty tactics and crazy dancing . I met up with my little edm sis who I haven't seen in more than a month and that just made me the happiest clown there is. She's the one I originally fed my energy off of, and her presence charged me up fully. I don't know how I did it sober until the very end; my kneecaps and legs were dead, and my feet were on fire (my shoes are still warm inside .) Most of the crew left around 5 so as usual it was up to me to finish it off at the end.
Steve Porter was pretty sick. I walked in Haus with no expectations from him and I enjoyed his set quite alot, even if it was for about an hour or so. I can't believe I missed out on Funkytown, but the rest of the night made up for it.
Junkie XL - whoa, I guess all that hype about him was on par. Dirty beats for the funky feets! We went nuts to his set, especially at the end when we were all craving Red Pill, Blue Pill to be played, and then BAM!! Sick sick sick!! Followed up by the beastie boys, which I totally was not expecting. You gotta fight! For your right! TO PARRRRRRRRRRTY!!!!!!!
Mauro Picotto....To everyone saying his set was garbage, you guys honestly aren't fans of techno, since his shit was just WHACK! It started off as probably the best set of my life!! I was so hyped for him for weeks, and it so surpassed his blah set from Global Gathering. I went ABSOLUTELY MENTAL to his tunes. I haven't used up so much energy for a set since Sander K. The dance floor was cowering in fear from my insaneness!!! His selection was just crazy retarded techno tunes!! When he started playing minimal techno I was like OMGWTFw00T!!!!!!! I had a feeling he would. Most of the crowd was standing still, not knowing how to dance to it hahaha amateurs. Me and George were just going nuts to it and laughing at everyone else. Obviously Toronto isn't ready for it yet....But it was just creamy! Although it is slower and at a lower bpm it was fucking amazing for those who appreciate it. Blip! Blurp! Bleep! He played all the big name minimal tunes that are usually on rotation in Europe <3. He even played Cirez D - TEASER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! His last half an hour or so is what halted it from being my favourite set ever. He just started getting repetitive and not putting much effort. He played the Dirty Clown Alliance's anthem - A Bit Patchy but it didn't tie in with his set at all...I was waiting and screaming all night for him to play my favourite song of all time - THE DARK ROOM!!! He didn't play it though
Blank & Jones - I wasn't feeling the uplifting stuff at first after going nuts to techno, but then their set progressed into something really good. It wasn't outstanding but definately a great set! Loved hearing all their classics like Nightfly and Mind of the Wonderful!! They didn't play The Hardest Heart though..which was kind of dissapointing. Great clowd pleasers!!! When Amsterdam came on I was just in so much awe...That song is so depressing and emotional; I was in another world listening to it
Great sets, no disappointments, and an AWESOME party! Thx Nada and Ali for having me over, and for the ride to the guv; Really appeciate it! I love my clowns, and they pulled through as usual for the most part. I love you guys <3 Will post a pic of our crew later showing how dirty we are :P Shouts to all the TAs!!! There's way too many to name, and too many I met. Melly Mel and ZEWAD, it was so awesome to see you guys, and please feel free to come back to Toronto soon!!!! Just a few personal notes:
Christina - I was just as dead and tired as you were at that point, but our clown duo certainly pulled through. Thx for letting me grab the skin LOL plaid skirts? w00t w00t!
Nada - You brought it!!! I was so dead yet your enthusiasm and energy gave me the power to continue. It was so great having a dance off with you We should definately do it more often, if you can handle it lol <3
I look forward to seeing you all very soon (Hopefully on the 18th for Cribby's bday .) Just remember, the DCA is ALWAYS up to no good
