Exactly. It's ironic to me that the international dance community continues to look down on America as a second class scene, yet it is our dance economy that plays a big role in keeping the entire scene afloat. America injects a large amount of money into the pockets of international Djs who are always touring here and still earning the big dollars that the UK and European clubs can no longer afford to pay.

Look at NYE, every year, hands down, the biggest talent plays LA. This year, it's already been announced that Sasha, Digweed, Ferry and Armin are playing here. Why? Because the dance scene is so huge here that it can afford these DJs.

Why then, it is so hard to believe that such a big dance scene could land Djs like Dan and Christopher in the top ten??

Easily explainable. It's for the same reason Lawrence hit the top 5, and the explanation for numerous other appearances/positions: Spam. Loads of it.

Big congratulations however must go to the ten or more new entries. Nope, we've never heard of Amadeus, Dion Mavath or Menno de Jong either. Please drop us a line and tell us who you are.

It is true about American and American popular music, we are sitting on a musical waste land filled with "Sexy Back, Hollar Back Girl" However, there are lots us who really appreciate good music and not commerical Top 40 crap.

Being as a DJ and begining producer, I truly think that playing Electronic Dance Music in the states is pretty hard. As I mention above, "they" want their "Sexy Back" Seeing Christopher Lawrence and DJ Dan making up to the Top 10, it is good feeling inside. Because, at least we can get past the soul, RNB house music.

I think the reason why DJ Dan won the 5th spot is because the booming of Funky House Music, and lets not forget the people from Holland, UK who made DJ Dan up there. :-)

Actually, Amadeus was on the list last year at #97 - http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/...ghlight=amadeus

I remember because there was all this discussion because he's a lebanese DJ, but some Russian kid from Brooklyn is taking all the credit. One opens for Tiesto and has been a DJ since 1993, the other plays crappy Russian lounges in Brooklyn and most NYers haven't heard of.

Real one - http://www.dj-amadeus.com/
Wishes it was him - http://www.djamadeus.net/

Skazi is one of the most famous psytrance djs from Israel.
He is really cheesy though.

While we're talking #s, not quite sure how the 217,000 mentioned on djmag.com turned into 250,000 in various newletters/website postings.

lol
