This is stupid. If some country invades my territorial waters, I think my troops are rightfully allowed to arrest them. They are not HOSTAGES, they are PRISONERS for the last time. You guys watch too much media. I guess you all neocons just wanted Iran to allow British marines to enter their waters, spy and Iranians just nod and look from the distance.

Besides, if the story was the other way around and British seizing the Iranian marines, it would have not been a big friggin deal. As always, Britain/USA would always have their ficticious evidence, making Iran force concessions, making Iran look like an aggressor and all. And probably the marines would have been prisoner for long time.

Its easy to just blame Iranians for British mistakes, eh?

Plus you guys have no appreciation or understanding whatsover for the humble and quick release of marines, as a gesture of goodwill. Surely Iran might have overdone itself and played a political card to its advantage by parading the marines on its TV, but comparing that to Iraqi prison abuse / Guantanamo bay is absolutely different. Worse conditions are treatment go on there. It would have been very stupid for Iran and highly impossible that they would think about releasing marines so soon and then torture them so that when they are released they go on western TV and make Iran look bad. I am absolutely certain that the marines were treated as prize, as gold, very carefully by the best Iranian officials because this was very important to them.

As always Megnetonium makes excuses for Iran and blames the West.
The British sailors were on a U.N. mandated mission in waters that have long been disputed be Iran. Funny thing is, Iran is the only one that believes that territory belongs to it while the rest of the world sees it as belonging to Iraq.
I've got news for ya - the brits and Americans have been traversing those waters for a while now. In this particular case Iran was under intense pressure internationally and DELIBEARATELY set out to take these Brits as HOSTAGES, not as prisoners. Go look up the difference in the dictionary.
It's not a case of how the western media portrays it, but rather an accurate description in general. Anyone who wishes to believe Iran's state-run media instead is a terrorist lover, and we seem to have a lot of those on this board. You're all welcomed to move to Iran. Don't forget to let the door hit you on your way out

Haha, hoho, I've heard that one before (from you), its only funny the first time. I wont bother arguing with your ignorant views, you are entitled to an opinion after all, but it was the US who created, supported and funded most of these terrorist organizations (Al Qaeda, Taliban, Iranian opposition, Savak, etc. etc. etc.). And I love your ignorance for pretending like thats not true! US government is criminal for harvesting and then unleashing the terrorists so that they can invade and harass these other sovereign lands for their own profits and propaganda.

You are absolutely incorrect. The only country in the world that recognizes that those waters are Iran's territorial waters is Iran. What they did was abduct soldiers from a sovereign warship in international waters operating under a UN mandate.

And I don't know how having some common sense, an understanding of international law, and knowing what Iran's territorial waters are and are not makes someone a neocon.

You and the other anti-west terrorist lovers (who amusingly all live in western countries btw) on this board just love to throw that term around like its something negative while at the same time you are on your knees like a cheap whore sucking down terrorist propaganda and nodding your head in agreement like some ignorant fucking robot with anything that is done by Iran or some terrorist organization even when what they are saying is obviously false to anyone with any amount of common sense.

That's a long sentence, but one of the best I have read in this forum.

Magnetonium loves to distorts history and the facts at hand. I love how he always leaves out Russia as that country has a lot of blame to go around.
The U.S never supported the Taliban or Al Qaeda. What America did support were efforts in the 70s and 80s of certain countries to REBEL against the Soviet Union. Maybe you've forgotten but I certainly haven't forgotten the Cold War.
I'm also not surprised the U.S. government is currently trying to encourage the opposition parties in Iran to rise up. The current regime needs to end ASAP.

It's obvious that most of the terrorist lovers, anti western posters on this board, who all live in the West, haven't got a clue as to what democracy is about.

I suspect that Iran captured these sailors in a successful attempt to drive up oil prices. Below is a oil chart.

Anyone invested in oil would have profitted from Iran's gig including Iran itself. Perhaps some political damage control to ease internal tensions?

High oil prices are the result of geopolitical tensions, not fundamentals.

That doesn't mean you can't find good oil companies based on fundamentals. I've found several.

Well, from the "horse's mouth."

* We were blindfolded and subjected to interrogation
* We were told we faced seven years in prison if we did not 'confess'
* Iranians entered Iraqi waters deliberately to detain us. Fighting back was not an option
* We were 1.7 nautical miles away from Iranian waters
* We were under psychological pressure and mind games
* Faye Turney was isolated in a cell away from the rest of the crew

In rebuttal: Iranian state TV says crew's comments were 'dictated' by British Ministry of Defence

I guess it's the old 'you be the judge.' Are you more prone to believe the soldiers while under Iranian or British control?

Yeah, that's a hard one to judge. Would I believe a soldier under no threat on the soil of their home country or while they are being forcibly detained by a hostile nation who kidnapped them at gunpoint and is forcing them to issue statements on TV while they probably have an AK-47 pointed at them from behind the camera?

But even though to a logical person that would be common sense I'm sure we all know which terrorist loving anti-west propaganda sucking drones on this board will blindly believe the Iranian version of the events because as we all know western nations (nations that they call home btw, you don't see any of them living in Iran) are either controlled by or are followers of Satan himself George W. Bush.

We Gathered Intelligence

Updated: 22:05, Thursday April 05, 2007

The captain in charge of the 15 marines detained in Iran has said they were gathering intelligence on the Iranians.

Sky News went on patrol with Captain Chris Air and his team in Iraqi waters close to the area where they were arrested - just five days before the crisis began.

We withheld the interview until now so it would not jeopardise their safety.

And today, former Iranian diplomat Dr Mehrdad Khonsari said if the Iranians had known about it, they would have used it to "justify
taking the marines captive and put them on trial".

Captain Air and his team were on an 'Interaction Patrol' where their patrol boats came alongside fishing dhows.

The operation was mainly to investigate arms smuggling and terrorism but Captain Air said it was also to gain intelligence on Iranian activity.

He told Sky Correspondent Jonathan Samuels: "Basically we speak to the crew, find out if they have any problems, let them know we're here to protect them, protect their fishing and stop any terrorism and piracy in the area," he said.

"Secondly, it's to gather int (intelligence). If they do have any information, because they're here for days at a time, they can share it with us.

"Whether it's about piracy or any sort of Iranian activity in the area. Obviously we're right by the buffer zone with Iran."

Well int(intelligence)activities on Iranian Activity
1.Of course this's against the Iranian political consultation.
2.This's against the strategic dialogue and in the field of security and national defense.
3.This's agianst The state's security and its contents strategy.
4.This's against the sign of any agreements or international or regional treaties that could endanger the security risk.
5.This's a existential threat to the position of the state and its national identity.
