Great guys, great service.

And yeah, the whine from a supercharger is great. FM also does great turbo kits too.

What year MX5 do you have?

Here's my old '90:

I don't know if we have the same name designations as you guys, but mine's a NB8A, which is the '99 series for you guys I think. The first of the non popup headlights.

As for FM, you can't go wrong. I've installed the FM butterfly braces from them. Increased ride comfort something huge, not to mention the structural rigidity of actually having a solid cross member brace.

The guys from Fast Forward Superchargers in the States to a pretty mean coldside kit. 150rwkw on a 1000kg car annihilates a lot of things. Plus the whine

Nice '5 you've got there. Digging the rims (15x7?). Nice helmet too

I'd post up pics of mine, but imageshack seems to be down for me at the moment, so it'll have to wait.

Yeah, we know them as NA and NB as well

FFSC does a great kit as well. They have a "Fusion" kit that's a turbo / supercharger combination that's just stupid.

I sold the car before moving to Holland a little over a year ago. I do miss it, but it would hurt putting fuel in it over here at 1.50 euro/litre. The rims are 15x7 Konig Heliums with Falken Azenis ST215's which are street slicks (now discontinued )

Ok, what exactly do you mean by 'riced' out? There is rice, and there is legitimate tuning. SC and TB have been arond forever, and creating a stable forced induction system is a thing of beauty.

By ricing, I mean any obvious aesthetic/engine mods. SC and FI are totally considered "souping up" regardless of whether you feel they are legitamite or a thing of beauty or not. Although I used love modding my previous cars, I guess age makes me prefer the stock car and if I want more power, I should save up to get a better car!

"souping up" != rice

Visual mods I tend to not like. But as far as suspension/power, totally different story.

What about the intra model designations? We've got them designated as NB8A (99-01), NB8B (01-03), NB8C (03-04/05). Is that the same for you guys as well?

FFS have a twin stage charger? I can't find it on their website. Got a link?

As for our petrol, it's at about the same price, although of course our dollar isn't as strong as the euro. But meh. Can't not have fun in one of these

I'm still running the stock rims by choice. They're incredibly light weight and look the goods (or so I think anyway). I like them so much I even bought a second set for track use. I'm still yet to put semis on them though.

Bloody imageshack is still down for me though, so no pictures to post up as yet...

Meanwhile, on the topic of rice, I'm surprised you guys don't have a bit more of a solid definition? Over here, riced generally means really over the top mods that provide little to no gain to performance eg a massive towel rack (aka wing) is considered rice, but doing something like putting in Tein/Bilstein suspension wouldn't be rice.

Only the true junkies will know all the NA6A, NB8C etc designations but yes, we have those here since they are the first digitss of the VIN code. Mine was one of the first 12,000 off the line, actually assembled in '89 for the '90 model year.

FFSC used to be called BRP, and they had developed a turbo / super hybrid like the old Lancia Delta S4 or Type 037 rally cars of the 80's. They didn't really put it into production but you can probably buy one if you ask nice . Their MP62 kit is excellent, and super easy to install yourself.

Yours has the best head out there. The 99 head flows way better than any of the other ones and it was only around for your year. Nice score! Yours are probably the nice, hollow-spoke factory wheels too.

My own definition of "rice" includes the peel-n-stick body kits, and the stupid wings. Oh, and if you put Tein or Bilstein suspension under the car it's not "rice" until you put the sticker on the fender to advertise that you in fact have such and such suspension / brakes / etc.

Although I know the NA designations, I don't really know what year they all came out in. However, anything NB8 related I figure I have a reasonable grasp on
Consider me a bit of a junkie then.
If you really want to split hairs, aren't all NBs a NB8C, since that's how they're designated in Japan?

How about that. I doubt I'll be able to coerce them into giving me a twin staged super/turbo kit, but I suppose I should at least ask when I'm (finally) in the market for some forced induction.

Also news to me. I didn't realise the NB8As had much (if anything) over the 8Bs/8Cs. An added bonus there. As for the wheels, I'm fairly sure those are the ones. Enkei made but badged as Mazda factory. Can't go wrong

lol @ the sticker comment. I got some FM stickers with the butterfly brace but refuse to put them on. The furthest extent of rice I want to go is the factory body kit (which I incidentally had on my first NB8A... that's a story to be saved for later).

It seems imageshack is still crapping itself. It won't let me access the 'my images' section, so I can't get the links for the car photos.

Is it just gonna be the two of us that appreciate the MX5, or are there more pure sports car lovers out there, as compared to saloon sports car lovers as it seems is the majority of population in this thread?
