Karim, you misread what I wrote. Yes the present natives are definately mongoloid as far as race goes and they did cross the Bering land bridge, I don't dispute that. What I'm telling you is that the oldest human artifacts found in North America are the Clovis points, which were most certainly not created by the "natives" or their ancestors, rather, they were most probably created by decendants of the Solutrean culture of southern France and Spain... circa 17,000BC... approximately 5000 years prior to the arrival of the "natives", thus the "natives" are neither native nor the first to arrive. |
probably a small tribe of about 50 or less people came along earlier and died. Its a huge trek but the point is the native civilization is the one that remained for at least 12,000 years. There could have been many attempts at migration, but to claim the land, worship it and survive off of it for generations would be the feat of the native peoples of the americas.
And those tribes from france and spain that came along would have probably looked only slightly less different then those who made the trek 5000 years after. The point is that the populations from eurasia and africa were isolated from the america's for hundreds of generations. And this isolation is why we deem them native. Simply put, they developed their own type of living and society for that long time period of isolation from the 'western' world.
I see your point but race is simply an effect of genetic drift and population isolation. When we talk about native people we talk about an isolated people who have their own way of living and have been doing so for generations of time. Those people who came over 5000 years before (if this is true) were in fact native to the land. Whether they remained or interbred with the new natives or died out doesnt change the fact that they were native. Essentially we all came from africa and racially subdivided through time but the native people , whatever their origin, claimed that land.
