That's fine with me, you don't need to.

In the Netherlands and Belgium Born Slippy and God Is A DJ had much more success in the top40 charts than other countries. Festivals Werchter in Belgium and Lowlands and Pinkpop in the Netherland did contribute to their success over here. (Underworld's Everything Everything album was recorded at Forest-National in Brussels and Pinkpop in Holland.)

What is "huge", please explain. I didn't notice it. And what should Dutch hardcore and gabber be called then? They still exist more than 10 years after they were HUGE.....

here's a list of a few people who played at dance valley 2005 (some of which played 'proghouse', some of which played 'minimal'), it doesn't get much bigger than that in the netherlands, right?

Nic Faniulli and Dean Coleman
Sasha
Steve Lawler
Hernan Cattaneo
James Zabiela
The Youngsters
Tiefschwarz
Jaques LuCont
Steve Bug
DJ T
Marco Carola (might have still been playing techno at the time, not sure)
Nick Warren
Satoshi Tomiie
Eric Prydz (if you count 'electrohouse' to be under the 'minimal' headline)
Sebastien Leger
Jamie Anderson
Vince Watson
Joris Voorn
Jesper Dahlback
Agoria
Alter Ego
Jon Tejada
Timo Maas
Richie Hawtin vs Ricardo Villalobos
Tania Vulcano
Cirillo
Luciano
Locodice

it's very likely i skipped a few more.
now tell me again, with a straight face, that 'minimal' wasn't "big" in the netherlands in 2005.

you only listen to one kind of music, therefore it would only be normal that you do not know what is in vogue or not.

Minimal was big. Next big thing is deep house, so c'mon...lets jump on this bandwagon

it is only jumping on the bandwagon if you are playing stuff that does not make you happy.

The elitists who post negative things about others *solely* based on their musical preference(s) alone are idiots. Now, just as real-life society has idiots... (surprise) message boards have idiots as well! To say there is bad modding or 'trolling is allowed' is missing the point - it's (usually) best to let the community go off on someone who is acting out of line and let them slowly get ostracized/give up/go elsewhere. If you just ban them they'll re-register, and with the ease of proxies it's harder to keep certain people out.

As well, when you're quick-to-ban everything 'objectionable' then all you do is create an environment full of monotony. This was the reason why TA never had many official 'rules' posted since once you go down that road you have to continually add new rules so that ppl can't just say "well, the rules didn't say I couldn't do it, so I did it." However, now you leave yourself vulnerable to the elitists who feel it's their duty to be the loudest/most condescending towards those they feel are 'trolls' ALL THE TIME. So, now instead of risking monotony from having too many rules you instead create monotony with the elitists bitching/being negative ANY CHANCE they get. You create this air of hostility that is hard to overcome!

This whole thing about the place being called 'trance'addict -- well, from Day 1 I've always maintained that the forums were to be about discussion of ANY electronic music. Do I still love trance? Yes. Do I still love House? Yes. Do I still love Techno? Yes. Fact is, one of the reasons EDM/'raves' became popular was because of the openness to a 'different' kind of music and ppl coming together to appreciate ALL GENRES of EDM. Now, some of these same ppl bash upon others simply because they prefer an EDM sub-genre different than theirs. What a waste of time!

Listen to what you most enjoy and who cares what the masses deem to be the best -- you're not robots and fitting in 'virtually' is best left for Facebook/MySpace. (Same with unicorns, even though they're funny)

This thread has been done several times every year since 2003, repeating the same arguments all over and over again, and reaching the same conclusions all over again. Just replace minimal by progressive, Armin by Tiesto, Deadmau5 by Markus Schulz.

I think everyone just needs to shut the fuck up.
