Not really as I was enjoying myself, and it does give me a good perspective on bullshitting.

True, the "Hard sciences" can be very difficult but they don't make you more clever no matter what.

Oh, I know that. I've studied critical theory which involves a lot of philosophy and some of it really makes your head ache. The same is true of the more advanced semiotics theory you study in literature. There are parts of philosophy/theory that I've found as challenging as any mathematics.

I don't think you get what I mean by "blag" though. What I mean is that it's possible for stupid people to do quite well simply through talking the talk, or bluffing. I think philosophy can be very challenging, but I think it can be a soft option where you can get away with things you just couldn't in a science or mathematics degree.

That's pretty much how I feel about architecture, after completing my degree in it. There are two sides to the field - one is extremely 'blaggable', the other is rather practical and potentially socially beneficial.

My school in particular was full of shit because it's sat in the #1 spot for years and the faculty that it has attracted are all elect members of what amounts to a self-congratulatory cult of deconstructive architecture. On top of that, as an ivy-league school, there is the potential for stupid people to do well because their parents donate to the school. (i went on scholarship)

I became quite disillusioned with the environment but eventually found my personal niche.

Contemporary architecture in general tends to bastardize pretty much any other field that it can get its filthy hands on. You will hear more bullshit come out of architects' mouths in school than anywhere else, for the sake of justifying their puerile fingerings in the darkness - pathetic attempts at masking the limits of their own creativity.

however besides the 'blag', there is a genuine opportunity for creative expression, theory of art and creativity, and 'useful' physical learning such as mechanics, fluid dynamics, materials science, real estate, etc...

so i consider my education pretty well-rounded. also, i went to a school (cornell university) that offers a lot of other studies, so i was able to supplement my education with classes in art history, archaeology, linguistics, electroacoustics, higher mathematics/compsci, and various language classes.

Is not. IT's still 4 years of a lot of work, interning and late nights at school. Shut your face.

What do you know?! Women don't study, all they do is color things and underline text.

In the US it is. Maybe not there, but here it is. I can't tell you how many people, men and women alike, I have seen get through this shit without much effort.

I am getting a philosophy degree on Saturday, which I suppose means that I "blagged" my way through school and took the easy way out, being too stupid to deal with math or the hard sciences. LOL.

That's how a business degree is. When anyone says they have a BA in business we're all like WOW! you REALLY tried hard, huh.

I suppose so. Although I rather think that if you are going into the field of Psychology with the intention of discovery is one thing, and going in with the intention of simply "advising" is another.
