There is more to djing than just waving your hands in the air trying to amp the crowd.

It's interesting how two people can go to the same event and come away with two completely different opinions.

I thought Norin & Rad did a great job and kept the energy level pretty high. To me, it seemed that the crowd was having a great time. Although I should point out that (1) I was near the stage most of the night, where people likely are going to be dancing and cheering more frequently than in the rest of the club and (2) I visited Ernesto a couple times during the night.

I say he, becuase one seemed to do all the mixing and the other just danced around him and I have to say I've never seen more jesus posing in my life. I was sure he was going to air guitar at some point. They had good energy but I was just over the top for the time of night and they didn't really build a flow or create a warmup for Steve in any sense.

If you were at the front that meant you were and would have been in the thick of the ravers, so I can imagine how you'd had a good experience from the moment you got on to the floor.

I have to respectfully disagree with both of your points.

(1) I think the sound system is great and doesn't need to be changed AT ALL, just properly tuned and maintained (which it is, I saw someone working with the main rooms sound system when Norin and Rad were on @ about 10:30PM when I got there). In fact, IMO, not as a professional sound engineer, but a long-time clubber, the sounds system is awesome. I can hear good highs, mids, and lows. I can hear the mixes well and I can hear the dj's play with the mixer(like when they cut the bass, etc). It's not harsh AT ALL, it has good sound dynamics (IMO). Also, and most importantly, its one of the only club systems in LA where I can go in without ear plugs, and not blow my eardrums. I think if you ask the majority of people dancing (which I did), they will say it sounds good in the main room (which they did).

(2) I was LOL at the person who said they were "trainwrecking", I didn't hear them trainwreck! You know these guys are relatively new to the scene, I think, and they play some good trance music, I was surprised when I first heard them! As far as the "only one guy" thing, I think they are a team, and if you would take the time to talk to them (as I did) you would be surprised who taught who how to mix...and whatnot, and how they work together.

You know I think sometimes people look too closely at djs (especially us who also dj). I was like that too, but I would suggest to just let go and dance. I think I've said it before and I'll say it again, if you can do better with trance please do what you need to do to get up in that DJ booth, WE ALL WANT TO SEE YOU KEEP THE MIX ROCKIN!

Peace -

Talking

sorry for the double post but I'd just like to add :

I got in about 10 seconds of talking with Steve (The Thrillseekers). I was able to ask him why he's teaching people how to make trance. (I don't know if you guys know, but earlier this year he started an amazing "how to" segment on his youtube channel, check it out at :

http://www.youtube.com/user/thrilltube

then click on -> "In the Studio With The Thrillseekers"

He told me that he's doing a "call to arms" to all trance/edm lovers to try to produce, and not be afraid of the results. He said he's planning (at the end of the youtube series) to get people to send him what they've made. This guy is not only a legend in Trance, and a really nice guy, he also really wants to leave a positive legacy and make the scene grow.

I really love him for that!

Another great night, thanks Circus! There were many great moments last night. Norin and Rad are getting better and better IMO, and are really nice guys. I wish them success. I had no idea how much Energy Steve brings, very nice to see. He was dancin, sweatin, lovin it for 2 straight hours. I loved his set. We got a chance to go on stage and it was cool to see what the crowd looks like below, and to watch a top notch dj spin. Good memory there for sure.

Ernesto makes it happen upstairs and the tacos hit the spot close to 2 AM. The crowd is pretty cool there, a lot better than Vanguard. The personnel is much better too IMO, and the staff doesnt act like they are Gods gift to the world.

People are in for a real treat with Richard Durand and D Candi, as well as many others comin up. Keep up the good work Circus, and next time we would like to meet and talk longer to you TA's, its just hard to get off the floor!!!

Thanks for the link. I've been thinking about trying my hand at making EDM but still have A LOT to learn.

I felt that the sound was much easier on the ears than on August 1st with Andy Moor. But I still needed to wear earplugs for much of the night. Of course, this likely is partly due to me being in the front almost continuously during 10pm-1am.

WOW WOW WOW!!!! What an amazing night at Circus!

The visuals reminded me of Tiesto in Concert and Armin NYE, awesome new LED wall and multi-color lasers! Norin & Rad again played an excellent set, some of my friends were saying that the music was so good they kinda felt sorry for Steve who was coming on next...and judging by all the people dancing and having a good time, I think a lot of people agreed! They had me on the floor from their second track and played some brilliant tracks with so much energy, looking forward to next time which I'm sure will be soon!

Solid set by Steve too, I kinda lost track of the night from there though, was in and out chatting with friends but I know the music was good.

I really give Steve (Thrillseekers) a lot of credit for coming up with these "how to" videos, really inspires someone like me to get going and give it a try! Steve Helstrip for President, err, I mean Prime Minister! Man, it got kind of crazy up on stage after he finished, I have the pics to prove it an will sell them to the highest bidder!

I know that a lot of effort went into this event, so many thanks to the Circus team for making a night like this possible!

If there's one thing I've learned on TA...is that they will say local DJs and all that are great no matter how good they really are. I'm not saying they are always wrong, but I can't even remember the # times I've seen an opener mix poorly, play with no direction or flow, etc etc...and everyone comes on here and makes them the highlight of the night.

Personally, I wish I could be impressed so easily like that. I would prob have had a ton more full-nights of fun instead of just wishing time would go by faster to get to the headliner!

This all said, I have no clue if Norin & Rad are good or not. I have not heard them in person. I'm just saying that it's really hard to get a good feel of how good some locals are going by what's said on TA.
