I try to do cardio 3-4 times a week do, do you think that's holding me back? These are pretty small amounts to lift and I don't feel like I should be getting stuck there.
I'm eating quite a lot too, between 75-100g protein daily and about 2500 calories on average total daily, mostly complex carbs.
pre workout 40g dextrose
post workout 40g maltodextrin 40g dextrose 50g whey protein
usually 4 sets of 5-10 reps |
need more info. Age, weight, male/female and what is your goal? Gain muscle, just fat loss, etc. Get 1g protein/lb body weight, or 2.5g/kg and u still need carbs or u will never put on muscle. The Dextrose/Maltodextrose is good, but if your plateauing, u need to change exercises and eating. Are u giving enough time for recovery? If your trying to gain weight(put on muscle) then u need to not do as much cardio or u need to eat even more to replenish what u are burning. When I hit a plateau, I'll take a few extra days off to allow for full healing, and change the exercises I do and adjust the diet. Also if u are using a lot of machines, thats the problem. Get away from those machines and grab some free weights. You will see u won't be able to use as much weight as the machines and u are using more muscles to do the same exercise.

Okay, my age is almost 23, my weight is about 170lbs, my height is 6'1", my gender is male with a probably testosterone deficiency (I used to be a transsexual female and was on testosterone inhibitors for the longest time, I went off them a while ago but the effects can be persistent).
My goal is to get lean and build some muscle. What I really, really wanna get rid of is the abdominal fat I've had for my whole life, I've tried cardio 4x weekly for 15 minutes plus weight training 3x a week and while every other part of my body is fairly lean, I still have about a one inch layer of ab fat that's driving me nuts. Any suggestions on how to get rid of that? Should I ease off weight training and just raise my cardio until it's gone, and then go back to more intense weight training, or will it come right back?
I use all free weights and give myself 1-2 days to recover.

cardio is definitely your best bet. but diet is also important. you can be running miles and miles a day; but if you are eating burger king and macdonalds, you're not getting anywhere.
put the fork down, fatty, and start eating healthier

Keep doing the weight training, but heres a case I'll recommend u to run on the treadmill, and do HIIT. You can look up how its done, but basically all u do is repeat this cycle about 10 times or until u can't do it anymore: warm up for 5 mins at a slow walk/jog, then increase the speed to about as fast as u can run...and run all out for about 2-3 minutes, then slow back down to a slow jog for 2 minutes..then repeat! HIIT is what is used to get the most stubborn fat loss for when u hit a wall like u have. Good luck! Just don't make the mistake of not eating as when your metabolism slows down, so does weight loss, or rather u will lose what lean muscle u have put on and maintain fat.
BTW...I'm assuming you are on a clean and proper diet!
