The first half of the sentence (everything before the ellipsis) is the operator and determines the meaning, in this case: "Australia is small in general", while the second part of the sentence is a conditional fact backing that up that first statement. The meaning of the sentence shouldn't be taken from the second part because it is only evidencing the first half. Taken on it's own, it would mean what you think, but with the other statement in front of it, no. Learn to read.

If I was entering an American Pharmacy I wouldn't be stupid enough to ask for a proprietary product like Panadol either, it's the American inability to deal with anything from "outside" that's amusing.

Also, the names "paracetamol" and "acetaminophen" are equally abundant. Neither are trade names.
