I agree that Arcadia isn't all that. I do agree too though that the middle where the guitar kicks in is very very nice. I also wish Serendipity and Lament coulda been livened up a bit. It would be just totally amazing if they'd been able to put that Clocks/Serendipity bootleg out...omg.
I still enjoy being able to have Lament and Serendipity in the highest quality I can get though. Those two really got me into this duo and they are classics.
The rest of CD1 is pretty good too. Andain - Here Is The House is just awesome. I'm glad they remade that song. Awesome ideas there. I like the Audioholics - External Key/Andain work and Voyager - Someone Else/ATRC. Dub Horizon is nice too. I'm not a huge fan of that Sarah McLachlan track though.
The second CD is ok, not as good as CD1 though. The first two tracks are pretty angelic and nice. I was always expecting to hear Markus's original mix of that Elevation track come pumping in after track 2, but it never came . Lili Haden - Anything is pretty good, especially once it explodes after the build up. The Above & Beyond track is just a classic, but it's sort of saddening and I have a hard time listening to it cuz of that The acoustic Motorcycle - Imagination just whets my appetite for the real thing!
Josh's ending tracks (Alive, and the last one can't remember name) are definitely a bit of a let down. Alive is cool in some ways, but he moved away from his original direction a lot (from what he played in the Essential Mix). I really liked the simplicity of the Essential Mix version.
Overall, 7/10. It's a must own for any G&D fan. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat. But, IMO, it's not their defining set really. The Essential Mix and some of the GDJBs (8/02, 11/02, 1/03, 12/03, etc) are just amazing and are apparently unbeatable (woot for Portobello in 10/04 gdjb!)
