Many people need to learn a small but very important lesson in life. It's not what you say it's how you say it. If you can't learn this, you're not going to get very far in life with anyone. A few of you in this thread could use a little help in that area.

M.S. should take the ecclectic approach to reading the boards... it is usually the best policy regardless of social context. If someone made a defamatory slur, that should be dealt with privately; but if large numbers of people (in an EDM-friendly site, btw) are not liking your brand of music, perhaps it's time to internalize some of the criticism.

I disagree that TA has taken a turn for the worse... I've popped in from time to time over the years.. . If anything, it seems to have mellowed out. Younger kids,.. in some ways, a more naive scene, but there are a lot of Euro-producers doing some mindblowing stuff, and it's slowly making its way here (to N.Am) Futhermore, the EDM scene isn't dying. It is undergoing a Renaissance, thanks to club culture, and club-music is starting to go more underground, which I just love.

But if 'freestyle' comes back again, or this awful electro-punk (with cheesy voiceovers by narcissistic over-the-hill dj's) continues, I will have to get all bitchy as well

I often start to dislike ppl when they become known and in the spotlights,just cuz they dont seem to remind who they realy are,where they came from and why and cuz of who they are there in the first place.

Its lonely at the top,nobody left to trust,but hey cheer up cuz the spotlights are there,and they shine all on your ego.

Even if there are people whose music I don’t like, I am still friends with them and respect them, because I have gotten to know them outside of just their music. Dave Dresden and I argue all the time about some of his tracks, but he is still a great friend who I have a lot in common with and enjoy hanging with away from the music. Dave also proves me wrong a lot, and I humbly admit it. Ozgur Can thinks a lot of my music is too “progblipblop”, but we are still good friends, and support each other. I have read many posts with opposing views then my own, and respected the person, for giving well thought out points. I have also read many peoples views about the music and that I and the other members of the “Evil Trio” play. I know that not everyone enjoys the music that I play, I accept that. I actually find that a challenge, because it keeps me working harder, to try to win you over. But just remember, music is art, and not everyone likes the Mona Lisa. But the people that do are very passionate about it. Thank you to everyone who is supportive, I appreciate your kindness. I hope that I am able to bring some joy to your lives through music. The people that don’t like my style of music, that’s ok too, maybe we have a sports team, a politician, TV show or a favorite Pop Idol wannabe in common. Respect me, and what I am doing is all I ask. as the longest standing moderator of these forums (bar of course, swamper) i feel it necessary to point out we haven't really changed the way this forums has been moderated since day 1. fairs, fair, there is always going to be some stupid crap we will miss, but at the end of the day we think the formula we have for our moderation is the right one, and an independant, unbiased one. forums go up and down, TA has taken turns for the worst, then turns for the better again shortly after, it always happens. with a board of this size with such an influx of new users constantly, this is something we cannot always help.

i am certainly not about to go around editing every daft post left right and centre. part of the reason that this forum is so successful is because we don't over moderate, we let the forums flow, unless things take a turn in a very wrong direction. if people say such and such is crap, let them say that. if they don't supply the reasons, people usually let the user know (and by people i don't mean moderators) and they generally discover that posting opinions without reasons just doesn't work, and people thus never get their point accross in such a way. they learn from this.

but that aside i don't feel that a short burst of anti-markus posts is anything to be too bothered about. as wicked neo pointed out, there are many big names that have recieved a bashing from the users of this forum, but that is part of being a big name. as you say, you have to take the rough with the smooth and swallow your (public) criticisms whole.

now i personally don't think that what dave piazza posted on these forums warranted the actions by party107, and i think that it is truly unfair that he is not allowed to express his opinions freely on a public forum. it stands against everything that (most) of us here believe in and i think it is a disgrace. this is not condoning the way he reacted in any way, but i can certainly see where he is coming from!

in a nutshell, we the moderators will not change the way we moderate, as it is a proven forumula for a successful forum. we will not censor any users opinions (unless of course they are racist, bigotry, highly offensive etc etc etc) on any artists, regardless of their stature without our music culture. we will carry on doing things the way we always have, and the way that is proven to be the best.

lastly, props for having the balls to post, i wish more artists did

Can I ask, because I'm not sure I'm quite as knowledgeable about this "Underground" as you, are "underground" tracks "dark" because they're not popular? Can I too "feel the music" if I don't like what YOU deem to be underground?

You're post is a classic example of an elitist attitude. Giving music, and art in general, merit based on the number of fans of the piece is rediculous, and laughable. Share the "underground" experience. If you're moved by a certain piece, why not share it with someone who might not otherwise be able to experience it?

I think btw that Markus leans back in his chair for his screen and laughs his ass off when he reads how ppl from OUR tranceaddict fighting bout this lame thread cuz somebody feels insulted cuz he gets critism.

No, I don't have a fuckin' clue what you're saying. I've been to "underground" parties, and have heard "underground" tracks before. In my experience, the number of people that like a certain party or track doesn't shape my own feelings or perceptions. You know, if you stop trying your best to impress people with how "underground" you are, you may actually experience music as an art form, and not as a status symbol.
