If you noticed, when the comments began pouring in from random TA's (most of which, had attended the club once since opening), i held back and didn't say anything. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and if they feel the music isn't up to par then of course - speak up, and let it be known. Now, it has become overkill - somewhat of a joke, or a cool thing to say/bitch about. At the end of the day, Nevio is a friend and a work associate. The guy has put an incredible amount of himself (physically and financially) into this venue, and the constant attacks I feel are becoming a little bit over the top. |
Jeff, I don't think it's an attack against his character, but more against his sets. I respect Nevio for putting all the effort that he did into starting Sonic, but his effort doesn't mean much to me when I don't even go to the club that often anymore because I don't want to have to endure another one of his sets. This is coming from someone who waited almost 3 hours in line on opening night, was a regular at the old club, was more excited than anyone for the club to open, and went to the new club every weekend for the first 5 weeks in a row. This is not coming from someone who has gone to the club only once.
When it comes down to it, people are going to the club to hear good tunes, not sit there and endure Nevio's sub-par sets because he's a "nice guy". I don't think people are bashing Nevio because it's the cool thing to do, but more because they want a better opening DJ for the sake of the club.
