Mauro Picotto....To everyone saying his set was garbage, you guys honestly aren't fans of techno, since his shit was just WHACK! It started off as probably the best set of my life!! I was so hyped for him for weeks, and it so surpassed his blah set from Global Gathering. I went ABSOLUTELY MENTAL to his tunes. I haven't used up so much energy for a set since Sander K. The dance floor was cowering in fear from my insaneness!!! His selection was just crazy retarded techno tunes!! When he started playing minimal techno I was like OMGWTFw00T!!!!!!! I had a feeling he would. Most of the crowd was standing still, not knowing how to dance to it hahaha amateurs. Me and George were just going nuts to it and laughing at everyone else. Obviously Toronto isn't ready for it yet....But it was just creamy! Although it is slower and at a lower bpm it was fucking amazing for those who appreciate it. Blip! Blurp! Bleep! He played all the big name minimal tunes that are usually on rotation in Europe <3. He even played Cirez D - TEASER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! His last half an hour or so is what halted it from being my favourite set ever. He just started getting repetitive and not putting much effort. He played the Dirty Clown Alliance's anthem - A Bit Patchy but it didn't tie in with his set at all...I was waiting and screaming all night for him to play my favourite song of all time - THE DARK ROOM!!! He didn't play it though |
But Toronto DOES love techno- just not the stuff he's playing these last few years. He used to blow the roof off years ago, now he just kills the vibe and puts everyone to sleep. Seriously- let someone else book him at another venue, for people who 'get' minimal techno, and bring the bangin' stuff back w/someone else. ANYONE else...
