Exactly, an album with no energy at all, no nothing...

I just like He's a pirate, but that song has been passing on sets since the last summer....

I'd have to disagree and say the exact opposite, good source material + decent work from Tiesto = a nice tune. I mean, i can be nothing but happy hearing that melody and thinking of Jack Sparrow swingin his sword, and the original score cue from POTC is great.

1. ten seconds before sunrise
lovely.. not much else i can add, beautiful uplifting trance. simple but effective

2. everything
absolutey shameless ripoff of the melody from the lucid remix of bt - dreaming (used on isos2), and quite a poppy commercial feel overall, but it's pleasant enough background music. some nice pads in there

3. do you feel me
this sounds like something else again.. maybe oxia - domino? wasn't too impressed by it, seemed to come & go without much happening. forgettable

4. carpe noctem
this was a bit shit lol.. really basic & the traffic influences were pretty obvious. would work in a club i guess, but not really album material

5. driving to heaven
much nicer.. quite floaty & euphoric. shame about the length.. hopefully there'll be extended mixes of these tracks put out, as with just be. 12" mix of this would be awesome

6. sweet things
i'd put this alongside 'everything'.. commercial & fairly straightforward, but easy enough on the ears

7. bright morningstar
the first half of this was really promising, awesome atmosphere & a kind of edgy feel to it. the second half was a bit of a letdown though.. sounded alright but lost its edge & descended into familiar territory

8. break my fall
didn't like the vocals on this, think a dub would suit it better. the backing track was decent

9. in the dark
am with the general concensus on this... probably the worst track on the album. alot of the tunes have a commercial feel but this one is the only one that really reeks of cheese. had to skip through it

10. dance4life
i still maintain that this would have been decent if it weren't for the awful lead synth stabs & maxi's voice being so intrusive. i swear the vocals are used loads more in this version too

11. elements of life
ok in all fairness, this was fucking horrible. infact actually its worse than 'in the dark', since that was shamelessly cheesy & not attempting to hide it, whereas this is trying to be all anthemic & euphoric and comes out sounding turgid & cringeworthy. i'd put this on a par with armin's 'serenity'

12. he's a pirate
now i love this, and am not ashamed to admit it i preferred the version without the orchestral stuff in the breakdown though. it has a much quirkier, more eccentric feel to it than say, 'elements of life', which gives it loads more appeal

in conclusion.. disappointed. i really liked 'ten seconds to sunrise' & 'driving to heaven', and was partial to 'sweet things', 'everything' & 'bright morningstar', but can't see me keeping any of the others (except 'he's a pirate', which i already have the superior 12" mix of). 'just be' may not have been groundbreaking but it showed a fair amount of progression when compared to 'in my memory'. compare this album to 'just be' & there's considerably less change.. he's playing it too safe & not pushing any boundaries

Carpe Noctum was the only song I liked. Generic but fairly danceable.

01. Tiësto - Ten Seconds Before Sunrise
Very epic and atmospheric opener. Just wow... This is how trance should sound like.

02.Tiesto Feat Jes - Everything
Nice vocaltrack. Indeed a lot of similarities with Dreaming. The summerish-feel of this track is catchy and good. I like it and the vocals don't ruin the track.

03.Tiesto Feat Julie Thompson - Do You Feel Me
More housey... Cool bassline. Goes off well in a club.

04.Tiesto - Carpe Noctum
Yeah, some consider this a traffic pt. 2. But those synths don't put me off. It's a more mature version of traffic. Towards the end I like what's done with the synths. Dont forget these are album edits so the full version might sound even better.

05.Tiesto - Driving To Heaven
Didn't like this in particular. Sounds more like a filler track to me. Also this doesn't sound anything like Tiesto... Too happy and 'heavenly'

06.Tiesto Feat Charlotte Martin - Sweet Things
Every Tiesto album has it's own catchy vocal records. This time it's done pretty well... I Really like what's done here; only it sounds too slow in it's current state.

07.Tiesto - Bright Morningstar
Clearly coproduced by BT. You can hear some glitchy Binary Universe elements in here. Overall this track also had to be speed up. Goes off well and has a nice catchy drive to it.

08.Tiesto Feat BT - Break My Fall
Sounds more like a track for Emotional Technology or something... While the vocals aren't bad I'm not too big fan of it, altough the instrumental part really supports the vocals.

09.Tiesto Feat Christian Burns - In The Dark
Somehow I like this, lol

10.Tiesto Feat Maxi Jazz - Dance4life
Too overblown, cheesy synths. Too bad. This track actually could've become something cool because of the great atmospheric synths; but the 'tututu' part ruins almost everything.

11.Tiesto - Elements Of Life
Fuck, this must be the worst Tiesto production ever. I mean EVER! This doesn't sound like Tiesto... it's a failing attempt to sound cheesy and anthemic at the same time.
If I wouldn't know any better I'd say this track was produced by Armin Van Buuren... It's UTTER GASH.

12.Tiesto - He's A Pirate (Tiesto Remix)
Wow, this is like the ultimate version of he's a pirate. A nice mashup of orchestral and extended. Really feel this track... Also not ashamed to admit I friggin' love this and I dont care if others say this is commercial.

All in all not a bad album; but I expected some more groundbreaking tracks I guess... Some really nice efforts on there though.
General rating: 7/10

Still beats everything Avb & Pvd put out these days.

I would say, this album is very worse... i have heard in all tracks from this album and the "new sound" from Tiesto isnīt my sound at the Moment.

It hurts for me and itīs hard to say, because i would say iīm a "Tiesto Fan". I Like his older Productions and his Mix Albums, that were really Milestones for me. But that Innovation or you can say the word "quality" in his productions,i missed at the moment.

Just read the name of the last track and apply to the commenters.
"He's a pirate, he's a pirate, he's a pirate..." :

01. Ten Seconds Before Sunrise
So the guy wanted to start off his album the same way he did on 'Just Be' with 'Forever Today'. It had a 2 mins long orchestral piece just before the trance part of the track started. This time, Tiesto's album began with a chillout-like intro that puts you in the mood to listen to some hardcore-ass-kicking-trance. And I wasn't satisfied with what I heard afterwards. At around 1:30, the trancy part of the track starts. Hmm the build-up reminds me of 'A Tear in the Open'. I don't know if its just me but, I hear some double-beating, I hope this was done on purpose, but I really dont feel it... The rest of the track has a proggy-feel and doesn't have much to offer to be honest.
5/10

02. Everything (feat. Jes)
Hmm what can I say about this one. It sounds like an unfinished piece. The vocals by Jes are superb but the instrumental part of the track sounds the same from the start until 5:30-ish, which is almost the conclusion of the track. Anyways, I don't have much to say about it, I love Jes' voice but this definitively needs... a Solarstone Club Mix. It will sound alot like 'Like a Waterfall'.
7/10

03. Do You Feel me (feat. Julie Thompson)
First impressions. Housey vocals. And same feeling as 'Everything', the track doesn't sound as if it was completed. Weak beats too... Oh and there's this sound that appears at 2:30-ish, sounds UFO-ish, pretty cool actually. lol reminds me of X-Files. anyways random thought. Another great vocal track ruined by the instrumental part.
6/10

04. Carpe Noctrum
I'm starting to wonder why I'm writing a review for this album. Same comment as above; there's something missing, this song has no fucking soul. Reminds me of 'Traffic'. SANDER VAN DOORN HAS TO REMIX THIS AND TURN IT INTO A ASOT HIT. blah.
6/10

05. Driving to Heaven
I started liking this song after 2-3 listenings. It's different. I absolutely love the guitar-ish sound. It has Junkie XL's style in it. Very ear-friendly and easily listenable. I wish this song would last longer than 4:42 mins.
8/10

06. Sweet Things (feat. Charlotte Martin)
Another vocal trancer. This vocalist is new to me and I'm really liking her voice and what she is singing. EXCEPT at this point where she says "sweeeeeeet things"; I hate it when vocalists tend to do fake orgasm while singing, reminds me of what Kirsty Hawkshaw has been doing in 'Just Be'. Oh and I forgot Tiesto's part in the track. Hmm... catchy riff here. I like it even though it gets repetitive. I'm sure there's a single coming for this one.
7.5/10

07. Bright Morningstar
This track is a little more techy than the rest of the album. You can hear that BT had alot of influence on (or maybe even produced it) this track. You can hear the infamous 'slutter edit'. Anyways, good album song, but I wouldn't see it on the dancefloor or air on the radio. Unless there are remixes coming.
8/10

08. Break My Fall (feat. BT)
Got this one for awhile now. But the final cut sounds different from the one I had. Oh well. One of the only vocal-tracks that doesn't have a background beat that bores the shit outta me. BT voice is just beautiful, good to hear his real voice and not a too-distorted one like in 'Somnambulist' or on a too pitched tone like in 'Love Comes Again'. Speaking of LCA, it sounds pretty much like a part 2 to me. I hope there's a single for this one.
8/10

09. In the Dark (feat. Christian Burns)
Second (or third if you count the pirate track) single off this album. Very energic beat. It has been said many times already but I am going to say it again, sounds like an Indie or Alternative track remix, because of the vocals. But unlike most tranceheads out there, I don't mind that and even though it doesn't follow the whole definition of trance, this song is catchy and pleasant to listen to. It's a radio bait.
7/10

10. Dance4Life (feat. Maxi Jazz)
I don't even wanna bother reviewing this track.
2/10

11. Elements of Life
Title song, this is for sure going to be one of the future singles. The melody's got some potential but like every other songs of this album but its missing something. Needs a huge-ass Ron Van Den Beuken Remix to boost it up. After the breakdown, its too... omg.... Adagio for Strings-ish. And one more comment about it, nelsoncrj just reminded me,... that bassline sounds too much like Deepforces, that Hands Up producer.
6.5/10

12. He's a Pirate (Tiesto Remix) (by Klaus Badelt)
Okay yes, Tiesto remixing the PotC theme was a really bad idea. But I have a different opinion about it. Even though it's simple and cheesy for most tranceheads, I'm liking this tune, yes I said it, I like it.
8/10

To conclude. I repeated myself many times for each tracks, I'm aware of that. I mentionned many times older Tiesto tracks from the 'Just Be' CD. So I can say that this album sounds too much like Tiesto's 2nd artist album. Also, I think that Tiesto has to work a little more on his vocal productions; the lyrics are well written most of the time but there's always a lack of complexity when it comes to the instrumental part of the song. He has to consider it as much as the vocal part, music isn't only about vocals, it's about harmonizing every elements. I'm sure he knows that. In a way, as Tiesto announced himself, 'Elements of Life' has alot of styles mixed together. But in another way, every track sounds like others.

Overall I give 'Elements of Life' a disappointing 6/10.

I expected alot from this but I guess I shouldn't had.
