I can't speak for the whole of TA, but this does generally sum it up for the heavy posters of Toronto/Montreal . By no means am I stereotyping all house/tech fans, just if u read a trance based thread in Toronto there are just always an insane number of people (mostly people who live on this site all day) feeling the need to tell you what is wrong with any trance DJ, the music itself, and why some backyard minimal tech or electro DJ is just far superior.
As for the person who said they notice trance fans are brats, that can be true as well. It does go both ways and I fully admit that some trance advocates can be as bad as the loudmouth "siskel and Ebert's" of edm on the toronto threads.
People have to understand that the factors included in this DJ voting are a combination of selection, mixing, marketability, and even likeability. Just cuz someone can mix (which is what some people call dj'ing), doesn't mean they can select to please more than 10 people in crowd and sure as hell doesn't mean they will get their name on the radar for everyone to see. If you are that focussed on the mixing, then try to become the next sasha...but you will find that the masses generally respect 3 hours of lumped together high quality tunes (providing the flow is not totally butchered), over 3 hrs of beautifully mixed boring.
