What's the "old-fashined" view of sex? Love? Procreation? There's too many old fashions!

In today's society, sex is for instance used as a weapon to achieve certain objectives, or regarded as something to just get off. The whole idea of sex being a "manifestation of feelings between two people" seems to be diminishing in popularity as society develops.

I dunno if people are less religious today than back in the days, but that could be one explanation to why this is happening.

I had a one night stand back in July. It still bothers me that I did it. I just don't feel good about it I guess.

I don't regret it because I think it was a good learning and life experience, but I am certainly not proud of it. You bet your ass it wont happen again.

Unfourtunately, yes it is decreasing as society becomes more desensitized to sex. It simply doesn't hold as much meaning because its everywhere.... Just look at a magazine, or turn on MTV, and you'll see what I mean.

I don't think that it's the lack of religion that causes it. I mean, I'm not a very religious guy (I have no problem with God, only his followers) and I still hold the old-fashioned way of thinking. *shrug*

Theresa- Sorry to hear that, but at least you've learned from it. I went up a girls skirt on my only quasi one night stand. But I worked with her (my weekend/second job), so it wasn't a completely random sort of thing. But it did make me realize to be more aware of the potential emotional repercussions.

Not at all. In fact, it was "sexually" very good.

I just don't like the feeling afterwards. I am a woman, my feelings and emotions got caught up in the game.

If I had been sober, I don't think I would have gone through with it. But things happen for a reason.

This poses the question: why is sex really that heavy duty? Really, it is nothing more than nature's way of making us reproduce. I'll dare to claim that the emotional attachments we struggle with regarding sex nowadays is mainly due to religion's claim that sex is a gift from those who created us, and is designed for two people bonded by love. Since so many of us no longer necessarily hold this to be true, why do we still have to cling to these rules?

When a woman has sex, she is over loaded with a hormone that makes her want to attach. This is what causes that emotion thing getting tied in, no matter how much she doesn't want her emotions involved.

It is a scientific bodily effect. We cannot help it.

P.S. I assume that most men don't get this surge of hormone, or at least not as strongly as women.

If this was the case, no woman would ever be able to go through with no strings attached-sex without wanting to get emotionally involved with her partner. I seriously doubt that this is the case. Women feel like having sex and then nothing else just like men do.

Like I said in my P.S., that probably applies to some women too.

I mean, women who go psycho once they sleep with a guy and constantly call you, they probably got an overdose of the hormone, a woman who can just have sex and walk away not really phased, probably recieves very little of the hormone.

I know that there is a hormone involved (I cannot think of the name.) We learned about it in sex ed. at school in grade 10, and I also read about it recently.
