i want to write an article from Turkish newspaper about these cartoons.

In Denmark, an unknown writer Kaare Bluitgen wrote a child book about religion. And he asks a Danish painter to draw a representative picture of Mohammed. But the painter said, " In Islam it is forbidden to draw Mohammed. There will be lots of speculations. Im afraid of this. And also i think we should respect all religions. "

And writer Kaare published this book without Mohammed's picture.
Now until this point everything is okay. But a well-known Danish newspaper JYLLANDS-POSTEN learns the picture problem.

The second biggest city of Denmark is Aarhus. There is a town in there called Viby and the newspaper is located in this town. So it is kind of a provincal newspaper.
They always tried to make a different journalism then other newspapers. Actually they became popular by these different journalism stuff.
The newspaper decide to debate on this picture topic.
They say that this is a threat against the freedom of speech. And they ask 40 well-know Danish painters to draw " the image on your minds about Mohammed" . So it all started with a child book but it evolves into emperyalist art and a sub-group called cartoon.
Another goal of the newspaper was trying to get attention by using the trump card of " There is freedom of speech in Denmark" .

Just 12 painters from that 40 painter accepts to draw. So they send the cartoons to the newspaper.
Jyllands-Posten pulished these cartoons in the page of culture in 30 Septemper 2005 with a note from Flemming Rose: " Here! The freedom of speech!"

Then 11 ambassadors from 11 Islamic countries(including Turkey) wanted to take an appointment to talk about these cartoons.
Rasmussen's answer was clear: " Go to the courts. We can not interfere with free press."
Then voices started to came from UN.
Also Denmark's 3 former foreign presidents and 22 former ambassadors said that this cartoon stuff is all wrong. But Rasmussen didn't care about them.

Still there were no protests in the streets. Until when?
There is a group of religion leaders from all around the world in Copenhagen. These leaders went to Egypt and Middle-Eastern countries, and they talk about the picture crisis in Denmark, and they show the cartoons.

And after that group was back to Copenhagen, in Arabic world, protests and other stuff started to occur like somebody pushed button. Between 30 September 2005 and 30 November 2005, there were no protests in Islamic countries. But then protests started.

In one hand there is protests, and in the other hand there is freedom of speech. Germany and France supported the freedom of speech and some newspapers published those cartoons.

Denmark's another well-known newspaper called Ekstra-Bladet gave Victor Andres Honor Award to Jyllands-Posten based on these cartoons.

I do agree with your next post where you call the protesters "puppets" and say that they don't understand the Quran and Islam.

I've never read the Quran, but I'm guessing these people warp the text the same as our Christian Fundamentalists warp the Bible in the US to attain their political goals. It's just overall more peaceful here. Occasionally some lunatic blows up an abortion clinic or beats a homosexual to death, but they're punished and most Christians condemn their actions. The reaction to the religous fundamentalists, unfortunately, doesn't seem to be the same in the Middle East. Very rarely do religious leaders condemn these actions and we see pictures of thousands of Muslims supporting these actions that the terrorists claim are a part of Islam.

I'm not saying Islam is bad, I'm saying the face that it has been given by these people is and when the moderates start to side with fundamentalists, it makes the world scared because your fundamentalists have shown that they're insane and have no regard for human life, non-Muslim or Muslim.

by the way about this freedom of speech.im totally supporting it but there should be strict borders. freedom of speech must not insult human beings.

also ironic thing is that France supported freedom of speech. It is ironic because in France it is a crime to say "there is no armenian genocide".
