| quote: | | "Making the event 18 and over has nothing to do with the amount of tickets already sold or making more money. Sasha and Digweed personally wanted to reach out to their younger fans and asked us if we would be willing to release a small amount of tickets available for 18 and over. crobar released ONLY a limited amount of 18 and over tickets (100 tickets to be exact). Tickets are selling fast so get them at ww.crobar.com |
I firmly believe that this release is intended for the sole purpose of consoling those that grumble about the presance of an 18+ crowd. I think that Crobar management is going to play this one by ear and will let in quite a few 18-20s before the main party starts. If you're 18-20, I garuntee if you try to drop by around 10 when doors open you have a good chance of getting in for regular admission, regardless of bribes. It seems to me that making an exception for 100 people with pre-purchased '18+ tickets' is much more trouble and expense than just holding the event as an 18+ would be, so I'd wager that they'd let people in. After all, as soon as they officially let just one 18 year old in, they have to use wristbands and x's to protect the integrity of their bars/ save themselves from a potential NYPD sting operation (as per Roxy). That, among other reasons, is why I don't actually believe that this will be a strictly enforced 21+ event.
Now, my opinions have changed recently. As most of you know, I'm under 21, but I've begun to hate on 18+ crowds just as much as most of you have. It frustrates me to no end that I, who knew almost every song that Ferry played during his last residency down to being able to predict every last breakdown before it hit, am in the same category as thos Growing-up-Gotti losers in the back of the club, spending their time flexing their muscles fighting over Ginas. So I suppose if I could have my way, I'd just make it so that rather than there being an ID check at 'Cro, there'd be a song ID check: They play a relatively well known Trance or House song, if you don't know the title or artist, get the fuck out!
*sigh* I guess not everyone can have their way...

+1. You should definitely get a comp.
I'm still up in the air on which of the two to attend. I'm really annoyed because I don't want to deal with huge ass lines for everything, especially to get in while they sort out how old you, therefore which bracelet you get, etc. I, like Brian, am not a giant like Bliss the Amazon woman , so the crowd size matters for that reason (Christina is in the same boat). S&D aren't like Prodigy the other night where you expect to be sardined in and you literally fight for your space. The vibe shouldn't be a pushing and shoving match, as that's not the kind of music they play.
The other thing that sucks is that it looks like we won't know that many people at S&D, whereas more than half of the people that we hang out with at parties with be at Pacha.
That said, Christina's supposed to be working her contacts regarding VIP bracelets so we have somewhere to retreat from the crowd, but we also considered doing a table, especially since the admission cost is so much (if tables aren't sold out). Would two others be interested in splitting one, as I think that you need 4 people, at $150 each, which goes towards drinks (unless something's changed recently or the table prices are different for this event). That's pretty much what we'd spend between drinks at the bar and tickets anyhow, plus there'd be a table to rest at. PM me if interested and we'll discuss.
