An incredible value for the five included games.

Ehh, might be better off paying the extra $20 or so for either the PC or 360 versions, since I hear they are far superior (unless they patched the PS3 version). Valve outsourced PS3 Orange Box development to a team of EA employees, and they fucked it all up (surprised?); the game is hampered with slowdown and terrible loading times. This is speaking from reviews, the game may have been fixed and/or the original problems exaggerated. Still, thanks for the heads up, I need to get my hands on this game.

Here is some of the shit that Sony presented at their conference.

-SOCOM PS2 developer Zipper announced a 256 player online squad FPS, set for release in 2009. Apparently people will be divided into squads of 8. Sounds absolutely epic. We'll see how it turns out.

http://kotaku.com/5025532/ps3-massi...-to-256-players

-The PSN will start featuring TV episodes and movies for download. This doesn't really come as any surprise, especially considering Xbox Live has featured this sorta thing for over a year now. Just about every major movie studio is on board. Considering Sony owns something like 55% of all movies ever made, I'm sure there will be plenty of content available. Also, ALL of it can be transferred and watched on the PSP!

I copied and pasted this list from PS3fanboy.com, obviously a few of the points are repeats of above. Also, some of the points pertain to the PSP.

* Greatest Hits titles will be available at $29.99 retail later this year. Games include Resistance, Motorstorm, Warhawk, Call of Duty 3, Fight Night and Need for Speed Carbon, Rainbow Six Vegas, Assassins Creed, Oblivion, Ninja Gaiden. (very cool, we need cheaper games these days, so this is a plus)

* Universal access to PSN, via PC later this fall. Access Friends lists and more on your computer, even when you're not on the PS3. (I know MS integrated Live onto the PC platform, but I'm not sure if you can do this sorta thing, so maybe the PSN has just one feature that Live doesn't? Not sure, but cool nonetheless.)

* Ratchet & Clank Quest For Booty coming to PSN this Summer. A new concept: shorter game at a lower price. A big summer blockbuster film: it's everything you expect from a Ratchet game, and it's a continuation of the franchise. It leaves off where Tools of Destruction leaves off. (this is a PSP game, if I'm not mistaken)

* New PSN games includes Rag Doll Kung Fu sequel. (sequel to the Steam game coming to PSN, I guess.)

* Movie and TV downloads. Major studio supports from Sony, Fox, MGM, Lions Gate, Warner, Disney, Paramount, Turner, Funimation will offer support for PlayStation video. Will offer SD and HD content. TV shows start at $1.99 per episode, movie rentals start at $5.99 per rental. Not only can you play the content on the PS3, you can play it on PSP. It can be placed on multiple devices at the same time.

* Ratchet & Clank Size Matters Entertainment Pack includes Size Matters, National Treasure 2, 1GB Memory Stick, echochrome for $199 later this year. (this is a PSP sale pack if you couldn't guess, 2 games are included, and 1GB is enough to at least get you started on music/game storage)

* PSP Resistance Retribution announced. Third person action game. The Resistance is now in your hands. Uses over-the-should view. From Sony Bend, developers of the Syphon Filter PSP games. (think of Killzone Liberation, same idea, a PSP game based on a PS3 property, only 3rd person)

* PSP Software highlight reel includes Loco Roco 2, Super Stardust Portable. Valkyria Chronicles on PSP! (Super Stardust on the PSP makes perfect sense, finally a few games to get excited about on the PSP)

* Life with PlayStation also on display. Will be available at the end of the month. (I have no idea what this is...)

* First look at DC Universe Online for PS3. Experience the DC Universe as never before. Fight against or alongside favorite DC heroes and villians, like Batman, Superman, The Joker. Build your legacy against superpowered enemies. (soooo an MMO...RPG? on the PS3?, whatever it is, sounds pretty cool.)

* 80GB Core Pack at $399.99. Twice the storage capacity at the same price. New SKU, most likely will not feature PS2 backwards compatibility. (no PS2 backwards compatibility is absolute bullshit, but a larger HD is good stuff)

* God of War III coming to PS3! Trailer showcased. (this is predictable, but still awesome as hell)

* inFamous coming Spring 2008. (I'm guessing they meant Spring 2009? Either way, I've never heard of this game)

* Andy Beaudoin from Zipper's new game. (Zipper worked on SOCOM on PS2.) MAG will support up to 256 players. (I made a point about this at the top of this post. Could be an awesome game, or it could be an absolute mish-mash that might be too crowded for its own good...hoping it's not mediocre like PlanetSide.)

Ehh, hard to say that with FFXIII no longer exclusive.

Honestly, though, I didn't catch much of what MS had to offer. Gears 2 was their big thing. I wasn't a big fan of the first so that didn't really phase me.

I think the game was designed with console in mind. The graphics were frickin gorgeous, and the production values were huge, the game was well-made, I just didn't dig the way it played.

My review of MAG.
-OMG LAG.
-Nobody in my squad ever listens to me.
-The commander is a noob.
-256 players = 200 snipers. 40 Bazooka-men. 16 AFKs.
-75% of players going for pistol achievement
-Herro. Me from Korea. WHAT WHAT YOU SAID? HERRO, anybody here?

Personally, I think the best piece of revealed hardware goes to Nintendo with Wii Speak.

I'd just like to see it be usable in things other than Animal Crossing: City Folk.

I am considering buying a ps3 from canada. Does it have some regional locks or something ?

also, is there a reason to buy one apart from Mgs4 and blue ray ?

Prolly not lol. I mean there are exclusives coming in the future too, which look great, but generally speaking I wouldnt purchase a PS3 based on that. Im already waiting for the 60gb xbox360's coming out next month, im seeing if there any good deals when they come out and pickin it up cause both systems just have good games inbetween, and the multiplatform games are gonna be prolly the same, so ill base my judgements on how DLC's, performance and multiplayer sessions differs between the two to make my final sale.
