Thanks for filling me in that Space opened in 2000, I know when it open. I help out with events over there and my partner is one of the head promoters. I was at work and missed putting in the early 2000's, also, my bad lol.

You are welcome, any time. And something tells me you were in about 9th grade when Space opened and you have no clue what it was like in that club back then, much less in any 21+ club in the late 90s. And I would not brag about helping out with their events lately, as they are the worst bookings & events ever ...

In all honesty the scene down here would not of survived with out Space. You say someone would of come in and done what LP did but better, I call that BS. LP is a visionary and a great businessmen. No other club owner in there right mind would of come into that war zone of downtown and did what he did, everyone else would say fuck that shit hole. LP is the reason for the 24hr liquor license, now the banana republic we call Dade county is trying to fuck him, but thats a whole other topic. So I digress. If it wasn't for him the area wouldn't have been cleaned up to its state today, the property values wouldn't have increased and there sure as hell wouldn't be any other clubs in that shit hole of an area. |
Once again you prove how little you know. Who said anything about the downtown miami area???? There has been nightlife in Miami for decades without any warehouses in cracktown needing to be converted into clubs, which is basically what Space did. In the 70s there was nightlife, in the 80s there was nightlife, and in the 90s there was nightlife. All without Space or the 11th street warehouse district. EDM really started here in the late 80s when the british acid house invasion started hitting some south beach spots. But it was not until the mid 90s forward that the EDM scene in Miami blew up. We had clubs like Shadow Lounge, Liquid, Level, Groove Jet, Crobar and Opium Garden all playing EDM to packed clubs every weekend at that time, along with dozens of smaller clubs playing EDM as well. We did not need Space or any other clubs at all to be opened in Downtown Miami to contribute to the EDM scene, much less save it. All Space did was add to a scene that was already great, and they only survived this long because of the 24-hr-liquor license.
I agree it is unfair what the city is doing and hope Space beats them. God forbid I want LP to win, but I hate government BS like that, and do appreciate his willingness to fight them. But you are believing too much of what your buddies @ Space are telling you, and they have a reason to exagerate since they work there. Worse yet you act like Space has cleaned up & revitalized the downtown area. Are you fuckin crazy. That area is still a shithole, and the people going to space and other clubs in the area recently have only added to & diversified the scum content in that area. I would love to see you go to the front of Space on a Wednesday night at 12 with a $50,000 Rolex on & stack of cash out in your hand, then start walking west and hang out in that area for an hour. Unless you make it out of there with the Rolex, cash and alive, without having to shoot anyone, you cannot tell anyone LP has reviltalized that area one iota ...
