I used to love the sauna after working out, sorta the reward for the effort.
Now I just exercise at home I got the joys of a shower. LUXURY!

proceed with caution.... and make sure you do your lifts with good form.
or else, get ready for frequent trips to the physical therapist.

Yeah, I was reticent to comment since I've never tried it myself, but I hear the injury rate with Crossfit is inordinately high. I don't even know if it's a factor of 'not knowing what you're doing' as with most exercise injuries, but the nature of things they do to be XTREMEEEEE.
I'm sure you won't feel extreme all laid up for 6 months.

Yeah it's a bit intimidating... but i know the owner of the gym and he's a pretty nice guy and a few of my friends go there. I'm guessing alot of injuries are poor form, or over doing it. I do know i like lifting and stuff more than excersize machines. I also have to find a gym where i can take sol with me, not leave him in some shady daycare area. There are alot of kids that hang out at this crossfit while the parents work out, they just have to stay away from the weights area. i want my kids to grow up around excersise because a few members of eli's family are morbidly obese and i'm afraid genetics may not be kind. anyway, we'll see if i work up the balls to check it out...

Well, I can appreciate the cross fit place having a friendly environment, especially on the kids score front... that's a big positive for sure.
I would echo what Hal+O+O said, cross fit does employ a lot of olympic style lifts, and explosive movements, and a lot of times, the general public is not necessarily ready for that kind of exertion.
You mention that you know the owner, just make sure he knows where you're at fitness leve-wise, and then take it slow (or at least stay within your limits of what you know what you can do).

I can't remember if I mentioned it in this thread, but I've been suffering from knee pain for a month or two... turns out I have patellofemoral pain and have to go for physiotheraphy to strengthen my leg muscles. So no running for me in the immediate future. Fuck.
