i would assume you get what you pay for. i bought technics ones at dmc for 40 and they are plush as well as being thick... but then you get the shit quality ones like the tracid ones i've seen (that go for $20/$30) where they're minimal felt and more like a pool table surface.

ok, prob a dumb question, but how important are slipmats? is it just a preference in how much slip one wants, or is there a certain criteria for them to be marked against? ive got cheap n nasty crappy ones and they seem fine, but i wonder if im missing out??
