i always do them with a barbell because if you try and hold them...your grip wears out too quick. plus you aren't gonna be able to do the type of weight i was referring to.

DB's as mentioned above. You need to strengthen your grip to assist in other exercises. Especially for Deads.

the thing i hate about large weight DBs is this:

lets say you decide to start off with DB shoulder shrugs using 90s or 100s. You do 5 sets.

Now you cant hold onto any other friggin weights.

or if youve done all your exercises, now you cant hold on to the requisite weight for long enough.


so you can either start with DB lunges, and be tired and gripless, or do them at the end and not get as effective of a workout.

its the same reason I dont work my forearms out firt thing in an exercise hehe

well...if you guys wanna do them with DB's...be my guest. i just know that you'll never get as good a workout doing DB lunges, than with BB lunges. like i said a few pages back...there is definite benefit from having the weight on your back.

but I agree, they arent doing it to look "good" really. Its to see how proportioned, ripped, and dense they can become. You have to get really big to see it all correctly though. These guys look better pumped up and standing, but , yeah, its not an all around good look, and most people dont try to go for it hehe.
