I believe the buy it now option was seperate from the auction since he had more of them. As in people could either buy one of the many he had for a set price or they could bid on the one he had up for auction...not affecting any of the ones that were up to be bought now.
I'm not familiar with ebay, so I had Cale take care of it, and he said he was unable to leave feed back. He tried. |
how long ago was it? if he can still see the "won auction" on his my ebay page, there should be a link right next to it to leave feedback.

I'll ask him to check. It was two months ago or something like that. As far as I know he didn't "win" the auction though....the auction still went on even after he bought it b/c there were extras to buy. |
yeah, that's a dutch auction, where the seller has multiple items. so there can be multiple winners. if it was only two months, it should still be on his my ebay page

there is no "transcation" as far as ebay is concerned, after the auction ends. and yes, even though it's a dutch auction, for cale's intents and purposes, the auction ended. at that point, both parties can leave feedback. money does not have to change hands, because ebay doesn't regulate that. for example, if cale never sent money when he was supposed to, a seller could then leave negative feedback for him. he may have to configure his my ebay page so he can view the auction he's won of the past 60 (or whatever) days.
however, ebay does have a dispute resolution handler called Square Trade.
also, while your issue sucks, leaving feeback won't do much at all if he doesn't have a bunch of negatives, because you'll be looked at as "that one problem".

He checked his ebay page though and wasn't allowed to leave feedback. So I'm not sure of the regulations on why he wasn't allowed to since the "auction ended" in your terms.
I think at this point, even if the dispute could be resolved...it's not worth it. I don't want to give that guy my business anyway. I'm just glad that Cale didn't send him any money. If he did, THEN I would insist on resolving the issue.
You're right with the feedback though....our one back comment wouldn't do anything to the guy.
My thoughts...I don't trust buyers/sellers on ebay, which is why I don't have an account. I don't like not having that security.
Oh well...like I said, we didn't send the guy money, so although the situation does suck yes...screw him...at least he never got our money.
