Ian Van Dahl
Ian Van Dahl - Why, Secret Love and Castles In The Sky are quite enjoyable tune for any day (heck, even the "Give Me A Reason").
I remember i used to enjoy the airplay of "Castles In The Sky" way back in 2000 (Popular NJ Station 103.5 the new KTU had it as #1 in it's top 10 for a few weeks). That i did till i whored it out to an extent that i can't stand it anymore. Still it doesn't change the fact that it was a good song that i enjoyed listening at some time or the other.
"Why" ruled a similar roost - the synth note kicking in after "where did we go wrong" used to hit somewhere deep inside. Maybe had to do with the real life events too.
"Secret Love" was equally (and perhaps the best of Ian Van Dahl's) enjoyable track. The synth buildup was smooth and lyrics were beautiful. "How can i find out, what you try to hide ... there must be something .. deep down inside" or something. Groovy track that local DJ Mondo whored so much that i got over it rather quickly. But sometimes i still hear it.
The point - there are lot of immensely likeable tunes out there and it doesn't matter if they fit into an individuals description or preference of a particular genre or not. If a song is appealing, by all means give it a shot even if someone who thinks he holds masters degree in that genre would try to rubbish the tune.
