because like i've been saying for years....torre a bad manager. He's been making judgement errors for years. It's only that his players are so good that he gets away with so many of his mistakes.
As for pettitte, i didn't watch that part of the game but i think he put the first two on base in either the sixth/seventh inning. That's usually a good reason to take someone out that late in the game. My question is why did proctor pitch to only 2 hitters? He's clearly the most effective pitcher in the bull pen at the moment. Why are you taking him out to ultimately bring in someone who was shelled for 4 runs the previous game? And why did torre bring in meyers when ortiz lead the inning off. I've never liked moves like that. Proctor should have stayed in the game, pitched to ortiz, and then manny. But, wtf, can't change the past.
beckett will get shelled in ten minutes. |
Yep,,,,He's getting hit all over the place....

you had to expect that. I wasn't expecting a win today, but i wasn't expecting beckett to pitch well. It's time their staff comes back down to reality. And wtf is up with the ass kissing being done by mccarver and buck. Seriously, if i have to hear one more time about how good the starting rotation is im going to choke the shit outta someone. What a bunch of idiots. You can't evaluate a pitching staff on 15 games.

"A-Rod's like pollen, he always makes an impact in April and May."
I agree with the comments made about our staff. We haven't been that great and it's way too early. Also, I don't know where we're going to get hits at the bottom of the order. Pedroia looks lost at the plate, Coco (including the triple last night) is about 1-1000 with RISP and Tek, though I think he'll be fine, has lost a step.
But, although it's early, the Yanks are having a very tough time coming up with outs in the 5th-8th innings and your starting pitching is average, at best.
That said, I sense a sweep.

I don't think so. He's just not hitting well and that's compounded by his outfield play, which (though he plays the monster well) has always looked lackluster. An encouraging sign is that he has as many walks as strikeouts (9 a piece) which generally means a hitter's taking good at bats. One thing, too, to remember is that for such a dominant hitter, Manny's extremely streaky. He'll hit .200 one month and .375 the next. His numbers will be there at the end of the year, I think, and look for him to catch fire sometime around the beginning of June. If not, we're in trouble.
PS I know it's early, but Drew has looked great at the plate.

Manny's too good of a hitter, his numbers will definitely be there at the end of the season. Don't forget that he started off very slow last season as well and caught fire right around June.
