Sure they do - people really don't have to justify why they don't like something.

the point of me saying vision of trance being fucked was that he did sign & release shedloads of by the numbers uplifting epic trance on MFS.

same goes with simon berry and the platipus label, bar the last art of trance release, HOW much of the releases during the period of 99-2005 reflect the released material during 93-98. little to none. and it wasn't like reeder's case where he just sat there and handled the business, berry was even making the stuff. Compare Love Washes Over to Deeper than Deep.

my point is, alot of the people from the early stages of trance were no angels. infact most of them help to the destruction of trance

Maybe it just doesn't sound good to him? Reason enough.

It seems as though you missed the point of my question. I already realize that you don't like it. As I said to Mr. Mystery was I was looking for a description as to why you don't like it. Is it the tempo, is it because there's too much going on, not enough going on, too intelligent for you, too trancey for you? Sorry but psy-trance is the top of the pyramid when it comes to trance. The whole point of trance music is to bring you to a trance dance state. In order for that it needs to be hypnotic, and correct me if I am wrong but being psychedelic as well certainly adds a whole other level to that state.

You need to learn to distinguish your own opinion from fact.

And again, it's no one's responsibility to justify their opinion to you beyond the statement "I don't like _______."

Now is the time in this thread where I post the lyrics to the hit 1980's American Sitcom Diffr'nt Strokes:

quote:

Now, the world don't move to the beat of just one drum,
What might be right for you, may not be right for some.
A man is born, he's a man of means.
Then along come two, they got nothing but their jeans.

But they got, Diff'rent Strokes.
It takes, Diff'rent Strokes.
It takes, Diff'rent Strokes to move the world.

Everybody's got a special kind of story
Everybody finds a way to shine,
It don't matter that you got not alot
So what,
They'll have theirs, and you'll have yours, and I'll have mine.
And together we'll be fine....

Because it takes, Diff'rent Strokes to move the world.
Yes it does.
It takes, Diff'rent Strokes to move the world.

Eh, the main reason why I can't stand most psy (particularly full-on) for too long is the fact that each tune seems to use the same sounds over and over again. Worse than just the 303 acid bassline, each track seems to have the same kick and hi-hat with a bit of a melody change. Any track by nearly any producer in psy sounds completely indistinguishable. That could be a very ignorant and narrow-minded viewpoint on my behalf, but it's my viewpoint nonetheless.

Man some of you guys don't realize that I am not asking everyone else to answer for him. That's great that you all have ideas as to why he said what he did. It would take quite the idiot to not know that he doesn't have to justify his answer, and I could care less if he doesn't want to. It never hurts to ask. Personally I like to hear people's individual opinions of psy-trance and why they do/don't like it.

No I don't need to learn to distinguish anything....I already realize that what I said was an opinion. It's also an opinion that has been developed over many, many years of listening to EDM. If you want to read into what I said as fact, then you are the one who needs to sit back and re-interpret. Something as objective as music has no facts when it comes to personal taste.

Quit typing the useless statement of "blah, blah he doesn't need to justify ______". No shit, are you kidding me?!!??!

You know I actually agree with you when it comes to the full-on style of psy-trance. It was cool a couple of years ago, but the sub-genre overall has become quite stagnant. Very nice way of bringing this thread somewhat back on track You are very wrong though when it comes to being able to distinguish one track from another...maybe you should just hear a larger palette of psy-trance. I repsect it as your viewpoint though and I understand what you are saying to an extent. The same could be said about most any style of EDM though, especially when coming from an outsiders point of view. You know it's like someone saying that all they hear with "techno" is a kick drum, a snare, and a hi hat.

BTW I don't think anyone uses 303 basslines anymore at least in psy-trance. You will find a lot more of the melody changes io progressive-psy. You will find more stabs and weird fucked up sounds in the dark/twisted style of psy. There's plenty of it out there that blows the majority of full-on out of the water. If you are interested I would be more than happy to give you a mix that may or may not give you an idea as to what I am talking about.

I don't like it because has way too many high-pitched squirting "weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeon" sounds.

I don't like it because a good part of it is music that tries to be scary, and i really fucking hate tracks like that.

I don't like it because references to aliens, to psychedelic drug trips and child voices only piss me off.

I don't like it because I don't like hippies - if I ever went to a psy event I'd probably hate half the people on it.

I don't like it because it's too synthetic, artificial and un-musical.

I don't like it because it has no groove, and when it has, it's usually too artificial (see full-on "trance" basslines).

And I specially don't like it because it has no soul. Now can you argue, "see but it's spiritual" and I answer back, well I'm not particularly interested in galaxy-travelling-alien-meeting-through-LSD spiritualism.

Yeah, I do kinda have some stereotypes attached to psy-trance. But even if you give me enough reasons to dismiss the stereotypes, I still won't like the music.

Thank you for your lengthy description. I respect all of your opinions Yeah you definitely have a lot of the stereo-types summed up. I can agree with some of them as well, but I choose to look past them and get to the music instead. Cheers!
