They sent Chechnya's troops, who had been known for cruelty when taking care of chechnya's separatists, to do "cleanings" of s.ossetia's villages where there are georgian people left.

My government (Illinois) does this too, they call it a toll. And trust me, it feels even worse than extortion. And the roads still look like a dirt path in Georgia that's been getting ass pounded by Russian artillery for a whole weekend.

russia had a big chance here to show the rest of the world that its rhetoric re iraq et al. mattered. it might have been the shrewd move from a military standpoint, but not a political one.

Hitler could have won with the troops he had if he had used them properly. But like I said, fortunately for the world that fool was both insane and a horrible military commander.
