Ok, back in Ohio (sigh ) but good times were surely had.
Got to Guv around 11:15 or so, and the clusterf*ck outside was to be expected. Eventually wound up in the lineup wrapping around the building directly to Koolhaus. It actually started moving pretty fast and we wound up inside Koolhaus about a half hour after arriving. That put us directly in front of the stage as Armin was about to go on. Mark Oliver was finishing up what sounded like a good set and the crowd seemed pumped.
*On a sidenote: can everybody make it a priority to stop people around you from chanting the upcoming djs name while the opener is still on the decks. this is one of my biggest pet peaves.
Anyways, Armin took to the stage and the crowd went nuts. We stayed about 45 minutes into his set and then headed for the main room. I wanted to catch the very end of Mark Knight and the beginning of Benny so we headed upstairs to the room overlooking the guv (sorry, forget the name). Mark Knight was finishing up his set. It was all right, but I just didn't get into it. Could've been cause of the early timeslot, but for the most part the crowd didn't seem all that into it, either. Got some beverages and waited for Benassi to take over. Caught a little bit of his set, which was not all that impressive in the early going, before deciding to go check out the skybar.
The drink was rocking as we walked through, but the linup to get upstairs was just too much. Made a U turn back through the drink and downstairs. Checked out the Acid Lounge, which definitely had it's own vibe and some good tunes being pumped out. Needed to get some air so chilled on the patio for a bit. At this point, it sounded like Benassi was starting to get into his set and the crowd was becoming more lively. Still, though, it was time for some more trance, so we weaved our way back towards Armin.
On the way, the Orange room was throwing down some D&B, which was an assault on the senses from the rest of the club. Very different vibe, with a lot of break dancers going at it in there, pretty cool. Got through to Koolhause and Armin was full on into his set with the crowd loving every minute of it. Stayed for a while before the heat forced us outside to the tent. Chilled around the tent for a bit. MSTRKRFT was giving the crowd all they could handle. Eventually headed back inside to catch the end of Benassi/beginning of A&I. Found a good spot right next to the booth and enjoyed what would be the best part of the night for me. It was like the last 30 minutes of Benny Benassi and the first 30 of Angello and Ingrosso. Pure, Dirty, Fun, Beats.
It was at this point that I became a soaking rag of slop and apologize to enybody who had to brush by me for the rest of the night.
Finally, after another breath of air outside, it was time for more Armin. Headed back into the KH and stayed there until near 6am. Armin was dropping bomb after bomb and had just the right amount of break downs to give my body a rest.
It got close to 6 and I made my way up to Skybar. Got there just before Deko-ze went on and stayed for his entire set. There was a good vibe, espcecially as the sun started to come up. I really started dragging ass, though, as my body screamed for the dancing to stop. Couple that with the fact I had caught his set at Footwork two night earlier, and I never fully got into in on the skybar. I pushed through though and made it to the end.
It was a little past 8 when I finally left. A&I were still on, but it sounded like they were about to be done. Does anybody know what time they did finish. I would've loved to have stayed, but I was dead tired and had to somehow make it the whole next day on the boat.
All in all, I would say that this year's LOL was better than last year's for me. I met a lot more people, everybody was awesome, and the vibe in every room was just great. Tenaglia wasn't really my thing last year, so I didn't have as many options. This year, I really got around to see everybody I wanted to. I never had any problems getting from room to room (except the once getting up to skybar). I believe this party really had something for everyone and I'd like to thank all that made it a good experience for me as well.
I think I shall be making more than one or two Toronto visits per year from now on. Thanks everyone!!
