My favorite tracks are Strings of Life, Love Me, The Underground, and Play On. Enjoy, and let me know what you think!

Julien Jabre - Swimming Places
George Morel - Let's Groove
Soldiers of Twilight - Believe (Fred Everything Vocal Mix)
Soul Central ft Kathy Brown - Strings of Life (Stronger on my own)
Reel People ft. Angela Johnson - Can't Stop (Dennis F's Falling 4 U Mix)
Roy Rox & Daniel Bovie ft. Nelson - Love Me
Logic of Sound - Expand Your Mind
Jake Childs - The Underground (Inland Knights Remix)
Todd Terry ft. Tara McDonald - Play On (Eddie Thoneick Remix)

P.S. I will try to review some of the other mixes in this thread next week.

Alright so I had a listen just now and I really enjoyed it! When I made the genre suggestion I didn't mean Chicago or Detroit house specifically, but American house in general. I'm happy with what you've gathered here. A good selection of straight-up house music. Mixing was very good except for the second transition, which saw a big drop in pace. I feel like had you placed the third track at the beginning of your mix you could have avoided that but no points lost really, it wasn't a train wreck by any means. Overall good job man. I really like Swimming Places and the track with the "First Time" vocal sample. This reminded me a lot of those Ministry of Sound CDs I used to buy 6-7 years ago.

I felt that second transition was one of the hardest to pull off, for some reason. It just didn't flow as well as I was hoping.

Glad you liked it!

Kopernikus, I listened to your progressive breaks mix. I thought it was very well done, decent flow throughout the set and good mixing. I noticed some very slight hihat drifts, but that's about it.

I particularly enjoyed the overall feel of this mix, very laidback. Others might say it doesn't really go anywhere, but that didn't disturb me at all.

I listened to a couple mixes so far. DnB, ProgBreaks and hardcore breakbeat. Enjoyed them all so far. I have a bunch more on my ipod I am still in the process of getting through them.

DJ Vega - TA genre challenge 2 - Hardstyle

Well, here’s my take on Hardstyle. In the past I’ve occasionally dwelled into hardtrance and techtrance territory, the likes of Cosmic Gate, Flutlicht, SHOKK, stuff like that. But never have I done anything like this. First off I have to say big thanks to Teezdalien, who pointed me into the right direction and gave me some uselful tips and names to start my search. Researching this mix was great fun, mixing it even more, being used to bpm's under 130. I noticed the hardstyle genre is pretty broad and has rather vague definitions, so I tried to include a bit of everything. There’s the more mellow and cheesy stuff, the tranzy kind of records bordering on tech- and hardtrance, banging tracks that are on the verge of plain stomping techno, and some tunes that are more leaning towards hardcore. I ended the mix with a classic that might be more hardtrance than hardstyle, but I felt it was good closure for this set. A peculiar and rather funny aspect of hardstyle I found, is the prolific usage of wacky, goofy or even completely random or pointless vocals and lyrics, often brought by so-called MC’s. I don’t know how real hardstyle fans appreciate them, but as I found it awfully funny, I for one couldn’t resist putting a lot of those vocal tracks in the mix.

DJ Vega - TA genre challenge 2 - Hardstyle

01. DJ Zany – Pure
02. DJ Pavo & DJ Zany – Sex
03. Doctor V & Mister L – Come on (Twilight Forces remix)
04. Showtek – FTS (Hard mix)
05. Donkey Rollers – Atrocity
06. Donkey Rollers – Evil
07. Evanti – What a rush
08. Sam Punk – Out of hell
09. DHHD – Indication
10. DJ Duro – Death construction
11. Tatanka & Zany – Connection
12. DJ Isaac – Impressed
13. DHHD – LSD
14. The KGB’s – Fahrenheit (Technoboy mix)
15. Arome – Hands up (DJ Scot Project remix)

Genre: Hardstyle baby!
Length: 72'56"
Quality: 192k
Size: 100mb

If this mix doesn't have the phrase "I'm your bass instructor" in it, I will be severely disappointed.

Unfortunately it doesn't. But don't worry, it includes other various quotes, such as:

"This is grade A one hundred percent pure columbian cocaine, ladies and gentlemen"
"If you believe in having sex, say hell yeah. HELL YEAH!"
"Hardstyle, I live for hardstyle, baby baby"
"The music just turns me on"
"To be honest, I'm totally and completely on his dick"

Listen and learn, Shakespeare.

Hah, nearly all of those are classic quotes to be honest. For instance, the first one is from Blow, and the second one is (unsurprisingly) from a 2 Live Crew-track.

I was thinking more along the lines of a pitched down voice going "COCAINE MOTHER******S" and stuff like that.
