I think its amazing that the supposed epicentre of freedom and personal responsibility is rife with people who will do anything to pass the buck.

Come on, mate. That's a terrible argument. Same argument people have used in the past with me for the fact that I'm vegetarian. It's a bad argument. It's like saying the underground railroad shouldn't have existed, because, you know, slavery still existed. And people in Europe shouldn't have tried to hide Jews from the Nazi's, because, you know, the Holocaust was still going to happen.

Just because you can't completely get rid of something does not mean I shouldn't do what I can to limit it

The point is, look at the unintended consequences of environmental chic: more people are actually being affected now by a catastrophe happening far out at sea than if the explosion happened in Alaska's ANWR region where it's a barren wasteland the size of South Carolina.

Kevin you are straight up stupid. Please for the love of something re-read that and tell me how you didn't just contradict yourself.

Its like you are saying the environmentalists forced the oil companies to drill there? No, you fucktard they would drill there anyways. You think they'd not have drilled in the gulf or closed up shop if they could also drill in ANWR? Are you that fucking blind? Really? Fucking damn.

That's not freedom, that's dishonesty.

BP stock between April 28th (US$57.34) and today (US$36.52).

They lost about US$40 Billion.

At this rate BP could go bankrupt.

They won't go bankrupt. They can easily take a $20 billion hit on their balance sheet and be fine. The company hasn't lost money, it's just lost value. They are grossly underestimated now, people sold off far too much. They still make billions in profits every year; this has only cost them (so far) one billion. If I didn't have moral objections I'd totally invest in them right now.

It's really sad because BP's gimmick for a while was "beyond petroleum" and they made a big deal about all their green investments into solar and wind. I had hoped they might actually be a responsible oil company. Looks like I was wrong.

I hope they get sued to fuck.

I love how Sarah Palin and the conservatives are trying to blame this on liberals and environmentalists. "You made us drill here! We didn't want to! It's your fault we put more money into drilling and none into actual fail-safe fail-safes. Damn you environmentalists! You forced us to create this disaster!"

Fucking scum.
