This would be a good thing if we had enough users to maintain the demographic, and we only drove away users who didn't contribute to these boards. I don't believe this is the case.
That's why I've always supported the exact opposite: we shouldn't take anything here too seriously (we're talking about music, not the cure for cancer), and we should welcome as many users as possible.
This is why I liked him. He didn't take anything (or anyone) seriously, and would always remind us that fun matters. In a way, we were arguing for the same thing.
